UK DVSAChecking high-voltage battery Recall R/2024/219 · May 22, 2024 · built Jan 2022 to Dec 2023 · Risk and fix

Risk: Deviations to various important parameters were discovered on the affected battery modules. These may result in the affected battery modules becoming defective over the course of the vehicle’s service life. In turn this represents a fire hazard with the associated risk of severe or fatal injuries to people inside and/or outside the vehicle as well as significant material damage.

Fix: Check and if necessary replace individual modules of the high-voltage battery. To minimise this risk the manufacturer advises that you limit the charging target to 80 percent capacity until the inspection has been carried out. This significantly reduces the load on the battery during charging. You can adjust this setting in the Charging target menu in the MMI or in the ’myAudi’ app. As this setting may change during vehicle use the current value must always be checked prior to charging the vehicle and set to a maximum of 80 percent if necessary. Additionally until the inspection has been completed the manufacturer advises not to charge the vehicle under cover and or to ensure the vehicle is not parked adjacent to or under buildings.

What do 2022 Audi e-tron GT owners report?

8 of the 8 complaints, the most recent for the most-reported components, as the owners wrote them. NHTSA removes names and VINs; long reports are trimmed. CarHooq has not verified individual claims.

While driving at highway speeds on the freeway, the vehicle experienced a sudden and catastrophic "Drivetrain Malfunction" / "Drive System Fault," resulting in an immediate and dangerous loss of propulsion and almost causing a high-speed collision. The vehicle was towed via roadside assistance to an authorized Audi dealership. Upon inspection, the dealer stated they could not immediately replicate the failure during a brief test drive and advised releasing an unrepaired vehicle, despite active sporadic fault codes stored in the vehicle gateway. The vehicle is currently impounded at the dealer…

Purchased a used 2022 Audi E-Tron GT with an open NHTSA safety recall for high-voltage battery fire risk (Recall 24V726 / Audi 931A). The recall remedy had not been performed at time of purchase. The selling dealer completed a pre-delivery inspection two weeks prior to sale with full knowledge of the open recall. Within 7 weeks of purchase, the vehicle entered limited performance mode (turtle mode) while driving and had to be towed. A high-voltage coolant pump was diagnosed faulty and replaced. Days later, the vehicle powered down completely while driving. Fault codes indicated an implausible…

I was in Portland, Oregon, charging the car at a 350 fast station located in Fred Meyer and it was snowing and raining at the same time. I couldn't get the car to charge more the 90 % and got only 175 miles. Since it was wet, the car windshield will not defrost. The visibility in the car was not very good. I start driving back home to Eugene, around 100 miles. I was concern if i can make it home. When i arrive home, i had only 20 miles left on the charge. The car used to get 230 to 240 miles ranges. Now, even in mild weather, i get 199 miles maximum with 100% charge. I left the car to the…

The heater has failed. Dealer has diagnosed as high voltage heating unit failure. The issue is that this problem is occurring in many etron GTs and Porsche Taycans and there is no info from Audi as to when they will have replacement parts. No heat in the middle of winter, and the windows fog up, forcing you to drive with a window cracked open.

On Thursday August 4, 2022, after backing out of a space, I placed the vehicle in drive and the vehicle shifted uncommanded to neutral prior to being motion. My vehicle has shifted to neutral once and park twice previously. I reported this issue to Audi of Indianapolis in May 2022, but no technical remedy was provided.
Power TrainNHTSA complaint 11477759 · Aug 5, 2022
After exiting the highway and slowing for traffic the car lost power and displayed a message along the lines of "Drive system malfunction. Continued driving not possible." I was able to limp the car out of traffic to a parking lot nearby, but the car had almost no power. You could push the accelerator all the way to the floor and the car would barely move. Once in the parking lot I turned the car off for a few minutes and then back on. The problem appeared to resolve but once exiting the parking lot immediately came back. Once again I limped to another parking lot and shut the car off longer…
Power TrainNHTSA complaint 11475656 · Jul 25, 2022
While backing out of a parking space, with the car in reverse and in motion, the car turned itself off. The car stopped abruptly, I'm not sure if it applied the brakes or some sort of parking brake - at first I thought we got hit from behind - it was very forceful. The car turning itself off and stopping without warning is a huge safety risk, I am glad it did not happen on a roadway. Possibly related, I had started the "Park assist" feature from my phone. I started the engine from my phone, but did not move the car. I entered the car and put it in reverse. I wonder if the "Park assist" timed…

To see whether a recall is still open on your car, enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls (U.S.) or your registration at check-vehicle-recalls.service.gov.uk (UK). Had a safety problem?
