EU Safety GateThe accumulator in the head airbag inflator may not have been manufactured in accordance with specifications.Over time this could cause it to leak. If activated in an accident, the airbag would not fully deploy, as a result of which its restraining effect would be impaired. In addition, irrespective of the airbag being activated in an accident, the accumulator may detach. In this case, the accumulator could enter the interior of the vehicle or become detached from the vehicle. This could lead to an increased risk of injury for passengers and/or passers-by.

Horn failure. Took the car to an independent BMW repair shop and found a blown fuse and said both the high pitch and low pitch have gone bad and need replacement at a cost of $850!
Manufacturer has no updates on providing a repair for the recall they've issued for the Engine Coolant Pump.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Highly disappointed in BMW for a severe safety issue. My pregnant wife was driving this car. The plastic fuel tank started leaking which was very very scary. There is no sensor or alert on the car to notify of this. Our mechanic suggested that this was a manufacturing problem. There was no damage to the car (e.g. no accident or bump). This was apparently a spontaneous failure caused by poor manufacturing and design quality. This is a dangerous condition. How was your safety or the safety of…
DUE TO THE POORLY DESIGNED OILING SYSTEM IN THE N55 ENGINE. WHEN THE CAR IS SUBJECTED TO HIGH G FORCES FROM THINGS SUCH AS TRACK DRIVING OR SPIRITED DRIVING. THE OIL SLOSHES IN IN THE PAN AND THE OIL PICK UP DOESN'T GET ANY OIL. THEREFORE THE ENGINE OIL STARVES AND MY CASE PRODUCES ROD KNOCK. WHICH BASICALLY MEANS THE ENGINE IS DESTROYED. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON TRACK WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE CAR HAD FRESH OIL AND WAS FILLED TO THE MAX. GOT A DRIVETRAIN WARNING, COOLED THE CAR DOWN. WOULDN'T RESTART UNLESS A JUMP BOX WAS USED TO GET ENOUGH CRANKING POWER. ONCE RESTARTED THE ENGINE HAD DEVOLPED…
I OWN A 2014 228I COUPE, BUILD DATE 03/2014 - THE BOLTS SECURING THE POWER STEERING MOTOR TO THE RACK HAVE SNAPPED LEADING TO A POWER STEERING FAILURE. THIS FAILURE IS CONSISTENT WITH: BMW TIS SERVICE BULLETIN # SI B01 26 18 I CALLED BMW TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THAT DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE BULLETIN DESCRIBES MY CAR AS BEING EFFECTED, MY VIN IS NOT LISTED IN THE PART SPECIFIC EXTENDED WARRANTY AND I WOULD BE FORCED TO PAY FOR THIS SAFETY RELATED DEFECT OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. MY PART NUMBER, LOCATION, SYMPTOMS, FAILURE TYPE, CAR MAKE MODEL AND BUILD DATE ALL MATCH THE CRITERIA FOR…
WHEN CAR IS PARKED, DRIVER SIDE DOOR OCCASIONALLY WILL NOT UNLOCK WHEN PULLING ON DOOR HANDLE. THE LOCK ON THE DOOR WILL COME UP, BUT WILL NOT STAY AND RETURNS TO LOCKED POSITION. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, DOOR CAN ONLY BE UNLOCKED BY USING THE DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON OR UNLOCK BUTTON ON KEY.
WHILE PARKED I WAS MOVING THE DRIVER SEAT BACK ALL THE WAY BACK AND THEN TRIED TO MOVE IT FORWARD AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE. IT WAS STUCK IN THE POSITION. THE SEAT WOULD NOT RESPOND AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AND RESTARTING THE CAR IT FINALLY RESPONDED. AFTER THIS THE AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID 'DRIVER RESTRAINT SYSTEM MALFUNCTION'
AS I WAS MERGING ON TO THE EXPRESSWAY (TRYING TO GET TO 70MPH) THE CAR SUDDENLY WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND A WARNING FLASHED UP SAYING "DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION: DRIVE MODERATELY". I HAVE ATTACHED A PICTURE. AFTER WHICH I WAS RESTRICTED TO 50MPH AND AROUND 1700RPM. CAR WAS SLUGGISH AND SLOW AND WAS DANGEROUS CONSIDERING I WAS ON AN EXPRESSWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 BMW 228I. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, A WARNING MESSAGE ILLUMINATED STATING THAT A FAILURE OCCURRED AND TO PLEASE GO TO THE NEAREST SERVICE CENTER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 16,500. UPDATED 05/06/16*LJ *CN
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AROUND 11 AM AT 35 MPH AND THE CAR WARNING LIGHT CAME ON STATING DRIVE TRAIN MALFUNCTION SEE AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE CAR JUST STALLED. YOU COULD NOT START ENGINE BECAUSE LATER ON ABOUT A WEEK WE LEARNED THAT IT WAS A BMW RECALL OF THE FUEL PUMP WHICH THE DEALER WASN'T EVEN INFORMED ON BY BMW CORPORATE. I COULDN'T EVEN GET THE CAR IN NEUTRAL BECAUSE THE ENGINE WOULDN'T START SO THE CAR KEPT GOING BACK INTO PARK SO THE CAR WOULDN'T ROLL AS SAFETY FEATURE. WE NOTIFIED BMW EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE AND IT TOOK THEM 7 HOURS TO SEND TOW TRUCK AFTER 3 DIFFERENT CALLS BACK INTO…
THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE DEALER. WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL A SUV THREE CARS IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A TWO LANE ROAD TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. THE OTHER TWO SUV'S IN FRONT OF ME WERE FORCED TO HIT THEIR BRAKES HARD. FROM A SPEED OF 35 MPH AND A FOLLOWING DISTANCE OF FOUR CAR LENGTHS I APPLIED THE BRAKES. NOTHING HAPPENED. AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES HARDER THE CAR STILL FAILED TO SLOW DOWN OTHER THAN FOR THE SLIGHT BIT FROM GOING UP HILL. I WAS FORCED TO FULLY DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT STILL NOTHING HAPPENED. MOMENTS LATER…
