UK DVSAReplace the Engine Starter Motor
Risk: For affected vehicles there is a concern involving water ingress and corrosion to the starter motor for where a short circuit cannot be ruled out. It is strongly recommended to park the vehicle outdoors and not in the immediate vicinity of buildings until the repair has been carried out.
Fix: Replacement of the starter motor.
UK DVSAIn rare cases the starter motor can inadvertently be activated permanently presenting a risk of a thermal event

Fix: Rework the starter motor assembly.
UK DVSAUndetected EGR System leaks may cause thermal activity in the intake manifold
Risk: Undetected EGR System leaks may cause thermal activity in the intake manifold.
Fix: The engine management control unit (DDE) will be programmed with improved software incorporating the latest OBD functionality.
UK DVSAThe exhaust gas recirculation cooler may leak over time and cause thermal incident
Risk: The Exhaust Gas Recirculation cooler may leak over time and cause thermal incident.
Fix: On the affected vehicles the EGR cooler module will be replaced.
UK DVSAThe exhaust gas recirculation cooler could leak over time
Risk: Leaking glycol coolant could create in combination with soot and oil sediments in the EGR module ignitable deposits.
Fix: The EGR cooler will be internally inspected with an endoscope and replaced if evidence of leaking is found.
UK DVSAIf the head air bag is deployed the ignitor may separate from the inflator
Risk: Curtain airbags may have propellant which may have a humidity level higher than specification and in the event of a collision may not deploy correctly increasing the risk of injury.
Fix: Replace the airbags on affected vehicles.
UK DVSAExhaust gas recirculation module cooler could leak
Risk: The EGR cooler may leakpresenting a fire risk
Fix: A visual inspection of the EGR cooler to check for leaks and excessive build-up of deposits. The EGR cooler will be replaced on all affected vehicles
UK DVSAExhaust gas recirculation cooler could potentially leak over time
Risk: The EGR cooler may leakpresenting a fire risk.
Fix: The EGR cooler will be replaced with an improved version.
UK DVSAOil cooler may leak
Risk: The engine oil cooler feed pipe may disconnect and leak oil. This may reach the front brakes and affect the braking efficiency.
Fix: On affected vehicles replace engine cooler pipe.
UK DVSABrake switch may be activated permanently
Risk: The ball head connecting the brake pedal and the master brake cylinder the ball head might not be locked properly into the ball cage. If the driver accidentally pulls up the brake pedal the brake switch would be activated permanently. This will cause: The brake lamps to be illuminated even while driving A Check Control Message would not alert the driver. An engine start or gear selection would be possible without brake actuation. If the driver's door were opened after switching off the engine the gear would not switch automatically to P as designed.
Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and check the locking of the ball head on the brake pedal. If necessary the pedal mechanism will be replaced.
UK DVSAFront brake efficiency may be reduced
Risk: The connection sleeves of the engine oil cooler pipes (feed and return) may not have been crimped correctly. This may result in the connection sleeves becoming loose and engine oil suddenly escaping. If the oil gets to the front brake discs the efficiency could be adverely affected.
Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and check the connection sleeves for the engine oil cooler pipes. Where necessary replace the pipes.
EU Safety GateWater may enter the starter motor and cause damage. As a result, the engine may no longer start, or the starter motor may short-circuit or remain continuously activated. This could cause local overheating of the starter motor or thermal overload of surrounding components and lead to a vehicle fire, including when the ignition is switched off.

the Panoramic sunroof just exploded out of nowhere at freeway speeds causing glass to go everywhere
November 2023 we purchased 4 new Continental PURECONTACT LS 245/45/R19 from Discount Tire in Evansville Indiana. We’ve driven almost 17,000 miles on the tires. Noticed 2 tires are splitting on the sidewall near the tread. The one I’m reporting is dangerously split (resembles a re-tread tire).
Service Bulletin SI B11 09 17 Same issue with my car, 2017 BMW 750i xDrive. Drivetrain malfunction issues identical to SB noted. My car has a manufactured date 07/2016, one month after SB dates covered, yet same part numbers are used in this month as well. Not fair that other vehicle owners with same part numbers get this covered, as I have to pay over $3k for repair, to then wait IF a SB gets releases, then have to chase BMW file a RP claim. Wastegate issues across all G11 models!
Stopping without notice can cause an accident and any of the issues can cause safety issues. What I sent them. I am writing to express my concerns regarding a series of issues with my 2017 BMW 740i and to request your assistance in resolving these matters. I have been working with my local BMW dealership to address several problems, but I believe there may be underlying issues that require further attention. I would appreciate it if you could review my case and consider the points outlined below. Background: Recently, my vehicle was brought in for service to replace the spark plugs and address…
The chasis function is limited on this vehicle due to failed right rear air suspension. Leaking right rear strut, and failed air compressor. Additionally, as a result my car needs an alignment. There was a service bulletin in regards to this exact issue in which BMW offered an extended warranty to repair vehicles free of charge up to 8 years/80,000 miles (MC-10215743-9999.pdf) My vehicle is currently at 92,000 miles but within 8 years. I never received the notification. If I would have I could of had the vehicle inspected and fixed within the extended warranty time frame. I'm being told that…
Car started smoking while idling, fire department called. Did not have check engine light on smoking from left tail pipe
Failing HV battery cells cause a misreading of the energy level available. When turning left in oncoming traffic the Hybrid launches in EV mode because the battery management system shows plenty of power where there is none. The car will lurch into oncoming traffic and hesitate while trying to start the combustion engine the delay is unexpected and can be enough to cause an accident.
Front Driveshaft between transfer case and front differential, is available upon request. The driveshaft broke at the universal joint, once it broke it damaged the upper and lower oil pan making a hole the size of a softball, as it kept rotating broke transmission casing also draining oil from transmission and engine components. It caused the tires to get soaked in oil and slip and spin out. Luckily no cars or objects were near me at the time, if there were this would have been a big safety concern to the driver and passenger of the car. No warnings were given by this component before it…
Instrument panel went blank. No visual indication of how fast I was traveling. Also frontal collision stop working.
ON 4/10/2021 AROUND 10:45 AM I WAS ON EAST INDEPNDANCE BLVD AT A RED LIGHT. AS I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE MY FRONT PANORAMIC SUNROOF BLEW OUT. AS A RETIRED NAVY VET I THOUGHT I WAS GETTING SHOT AT AND SLOWED THE CAR DOWN MAINTAIN COURSE AND REALIZED THE AIR RUSSHING FROM MY SUNROOF. ON THIS DAY I ALREADY HAD A SCHEDULED MAINTAINCE AT THE BMW DEALSERSHIP. I PROCEEDED TO PULL IN AND THE NOTICE I WAS REALLY FRANTICALLY ALERT SHOWED THEM THE SUNROOF AND EXPLAINED. THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW THAT OCCURED. THE VEHICLE IS A 2017 BMW XI DRIVE WITH ONLY 22000 MILES ROUGHLY AND I ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE SINCE…
ACTIVE AIR FLAPS MALFUNCTIONING, SEVISE BULLETIN FOR OTHER MODELS BUT NOT THIS ONE
