The components named most often in the 8 owner complaints. One complaint can name several, so the shares can add up to more than 100%.
Has the 2024 BMW 7 Series been recalled?
NHTSA lists no safety recalls for the 2024 BMW 7 Series as of October 25, 2026. Recalls can be issued at any time, so check your VIN before you rely on this.
Is the 2024 BMW 7 Series recalled in the UK or Europe?
Recalls issued by the UK's DVSA and through the EU's Safety Gate system that cover this model and build period. European models can differ from U.S. ones, and "years estimated" means the recall gave no build dates, so confirm your own car with your registration or VIN.
UK DVSAChecking and re-securing the air-conditioning wiring harness
Risk: The Safety Recall relates to the air-conditioning wiring harness located behind the dashboard. On the affected vehicles the wiring harness was fixed very close to a screw connection on the interior microfilter housing cover. The microfilter of the air conditioning system will be regularly replaced as part of the oil service. It cannot be ruled out that cables may be damaged when replacing the microfilter during a workshop visit. The filter cover has to be removed from the lower part of the instrument panel. After replacing the filter the cover has to be refitted at which point the wires may become damaged or trapped. If the wiring harness is damaged this could lead to malfunctions of the air conditioning system as well as to a short circuit. In case of a short circuit a sensor may overheat while the vehicle is in operation. As a result smoke may develop from the instrument panel and subsequently a fire cannot be ruled out.
Fix: On the affected vehicles the air-conditioning wiring harness will be checked repaired if necessary and re-secured in a modified fixing.
UK DVSAHydraulic Brake System Unit Replacement
Risk: On affected vehicles the brake servomotor was improperly welded. The weld seam might not withstand the stresses caused under high brake pressure leading to a requirement for a higher brake effort increasing the braking distance.
Fix: Affected vehicles will have the hydraulic unit of the brake system replaced.
UK DVSAReplace Double Universal Joint (Steering)
Risk: On affected vehicles there may have been a deviation in the production of the double universal joint on the steering column. Certain steering movements could result in the component failing.
Fix: Affected vehicles will have the double universal joint replaced.
UK DVSAIntegrated Braking System
Risk: On certain vehicles the Integrated Brake (IB) system may be impaired due to contamination between electrical contacts.
Fix: Vehicles that may be affected by contamination are required to have the vehicle’s software updated which can detect signal interference before it occurs. If symptoms are detected you should refrain from use of the vehicle and the affected Integrated Brake (IB) system component will be replaced.
UK DVSAIntegrated Braking System
Risk: On affected vehicles an unexpected loss of hydraulic brake assistance may occur and may result in a different pedal behaviour under specific conditions an extended braking distance may be experienced and ABS/Stability control may be impaired
Fix: On the affected vehicles the Integrated Brake System will be replaced
UK DVSACheck Steering Wheel and Rework Ground Connection
Risk: On affected vehicles the steering wheel ground connection may have been insufficiently fastened during production which may result in the system detecting the hands are on the steering wheel even though they are not
Fix: On affected vehicles the steering wheel ground connection will be checked and if required reworked.

These deposits may increase relay contact resistance, leading to starting failures or short circuits. If a short circuit occurs, either when attempting to start the vehicle or while driving due to vibration-related movement of the deposits, it could cause a thermal event and increase the risk of fire.

EU Safety GateThe cockpit cable harness may be damaged when the microfilter is replaced. This can lead to a short circuit, with smoke build-up resulting in fire.
Measures: Type of economic operator taking notified measure(s): Manufacturer; Category of measure(s): Recall of the product from end users; Date of entry into force: Unknown
EU Safety GateThe engine starter’s electrical contacts may overheat and cause the vehicle to start improperly.Continued starting attempts can intensify the overheating and ignite surrounding components, potentially leading to a vehicle fire while driving or shortly after parking.

This may lead to a shutdown of the high-voltage system and fire.
Measures: Type of economic operator taking notified measure(s): Manufacturer; Category of measure(s): Recall of the product from end users; Date of entry into force: Unknown
EU Safety GateThe hollow shaft of the servomotor was not welded correctly. The weld may not be able to withstand high braking pressure build-up and may break. In this case, the reduced braking performance requires greater force and the braking distance may increase. In addition, the ABS and DSC brake control systems are not assisted. This increases the risk of an accident.

This can lead to unexpected steering behaviour which can increase the risk of accidents and injuries.

My car is about 1.5 yers old, bmw 740i. I have been towed back to the dealer twice now for the same issue.i live in Illinois and work in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, so I drive on the expressway a lot. I received the following message on my display while driving at 75-80 mph. The message is “ inability to drive.” I have received this 3 times. When it occurs the steering is more difficult and, I am told starts to shut down major systems, so needlessly to say quite unnerving and I had difficulty getting onto the shoulder. The first occurrence was last year in October (2024). I was afraid to drive the…
There is an open recall on my 2024 BMW 760i and BMW has NO FIX over a year now and the NHTSA is doing nothing to pressure BMW to fix this critical issue. This is unacceptable as it puts all of us as risk and the NHTSA has to take this issue serioulsy, I am unable to sell this vehicle or get a new insurance and you folks have put no pressure on BMW to fix this. Please CC the head of the NHTSA and start putting pressure on BMW to solve this.
Car seems to be having issues with its brake function, especially in traffic or when coming to a complete stop from a distance. Also I am in fear that the issue will emerge while I am driving and I will not use the car with my 10 month old daughter.
BMW issued a recall for several series including the BMW 760i x drive citing missing parts to the braking system which could cause the emergency braking and brakes to fail. The recall was issued 10 months ago. This was before I purchased the car. I did not receive a recall notice until a month ago. They did not disclose the recall at the time of the sale of the vehicle. I drove the car for 5 months before being notified. Before I received the recall notice I noticed some issues with the braking taking longer to stop. I then received the recall and contacted the dealer to fix the recall. They…
The contact owns a 2024 BMW 740i. The contact received a notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V104000 (ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC), SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Multiple Brake system failures rendering the vehicle unsafe and undriveable. Been in the dealer 3 times and not resolved. Qualifies as a Lemon vehicle. Car is not safe for my family and others on the road. Car was from BMW Sterling in Virginia. 100 miles on the clock - new vehicle lease.
When I brushes a car, the dealer said Car has a recall for safety issue for airbags and will fix someone hit the front light with a low speed 20 mph on the street the old airbag open in the car for no reason to do this

Counts are a starting point, not a verdict: popular models collect more complaints because more of them are on the road, and NHTSA does not verify individual reports. To see whether a recall is still open on your car, enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls (U.S.) or your registration at check-vehicle-recalls.service.gov.uk (UK). Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA; complaints are what trigger investigations and recalls.
