The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine failed after the message “Drive Carefully - Reduce Acceleration” was displayed and the vehicle then came to a sudden stop. The vehicle was unable to accelerate, and the engine seized. The contact replaced the battery, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, and the vehicle was diagnosed with a blown engine. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 125,000.
Intermittant slow, jerking when shifting gears. In 4wd rear wheels locked up on right hand turn, sliding through intersection. No warning or failure lights. Needs inspection and repair.
While towing a light trailer (~3,000 lbs) through the mountains on an interstate, my 2022 Suburban with the 6.2 engine suddenly got hot and shut off. There were no symptoms of the engine having any issues, it had been running well the whole trip. The temperature gauge went from normal to very hot in a very short time. I was not able to get it to a pull-off area and was stranded partially in the right lane of the interstate with several collision close calls. This problem was later determined by the dealer to be the common crank bearing issue for this model engine.
2022 Chevrolet Suburban, 3.0L Duramax diesel, 10-speed automatic, purchased March 2022, approx. 122,000 miles. In early August 2026 the transmission began shuddering at low speeds. Reported to the selling and servicing Chevrolet dealer on 08/11/2026 at 118,892 miles. No transmission diagnosis was performed; the dealer's written estimate recommended spark plugs on a diesel engine. The condition worsened. On 09/17/2026 the dealer verified the concern and documented a "very harsh shift which would continue until 5th gear" when accelerating, and found the transmission fluid "heavily contaminated…
This problem isn’t just the 6.2L engine. My 22 Suburban has the 5.3L and had engine failure on the freeway going 70 mph in April 2026. Loud noises and loss of power. Towed to dealership and was confirmed that it was the same issues as the 6.2L. The dealership only replaced certain components (gears, rods, camshaft etc.) Parts replaced and vehicle returned a month later but still loss of power and bad idle. New dealership in May 2026, replaced same parts, said faulty parts were used at previous dealership. Vehicle repaired and returned in June2026, a day later new code for service transmission…
Operating vehicle normally until one day I heard a rattling noise from the engine compartment. Car had limited speed and i had to pull over to check what the issue was and the car wont start. No check engine lights, no warning. Tried turning car on but only the car starter keeps rolling. Tried jumping and it doesnt start and had to have it towed to the dealership. Car is under 55,000miles and dealer diagnosis indicates there are metal particles in the new oil after replacing oil and a loose bearing. States i will need a new engine, which is on back order and GM will only cover $44/day until…
Vehicle was recalled for loss of propulsion.Pico test was done ,changed oil.6,000 miles later engine locked up on freeway.Engine is in for replacement.2022 suburban 6.2 liter 66,000 miles
2/24/2026 Sitting at red light, very busy road, vehicle cut off and said push to start. Vehicle would not start and would not shift out of park to push out of road. Very dangerous to be stranded in moving traffic. Had to be towed to dealer and it's still there waiting on engine replacement.
“Service safety restraint system” light came on. I feel this is a defect and a serious concern. I’ve seen where others are experiencing the same issue. I bought this vehicle specifically because I wanted to a safe vehicle to drive my 4 children around in.
Car says "service safety restraint system" and airbag light comes on intermittently. Dealer won't cover under safety restraint warranty. They site TSB about a wire that GM made too short but are not sure it will fix it. This car has 42,000. We are worried the safety restraint system won't work and we carry 4 children in our vehicle. This should be covered and a safety recall.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated while driving at various speeds or while accelerating from a complete stop, the automatic emergency braking system engaged while there was no other vehicle nearby, and the vehicle skidded. The contact stated that the traction control warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed in the rain the failure reoccurred, causing the vehicle to skid. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was test-driven, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not…

Counts are a starting point, not a verdict: popular models collect more complaints because more of them are on the road, and NHTSA does not verify individual reports. To see whether a recall is still open on your car, enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls (U.S.) or your registration at check-vehicle-recalls.service.gov.uk (UK). Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA; complaints are what trigger investigations and recalls.
