Has the 2019 Ford Edge been recalled?
3 U.S. safety recalls. Repairs are free at a franchised dealer; some are done over the air.
Back Over Prevention: Software Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Transit Connect, 2019-2020 MKZ, MKX, Edge, Continental, F-150, Nautilus, Fusion, 2019-2023 Ranger, Mustang, 2020-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator, 2020-2022 Escape, F-250 SD, Corsair, 2020-2023 Aviator, Transit, 2020-2024 Explorer, 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.
Risk: A rearview camera that displays a blank image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver. Both of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will update the rearview camera software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 4, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S72.
Power Train: Automatic Transmission Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Edge, Transit Connect and Lincoln MKX and 2020 Escape and Lincoln Corsair vehicles. The start/stop accumulator endcap may have missing or loose bolts.
Risk: Missing or loose bolts on the start stop accumulator endcap could result in a transmission fluid leak and may progress to a loss of transmission function. A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire.
Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the start/stop accumulator, free of charge. The recall began September 23, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S49.
Seat Belts: Front: Webbing Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019 Edge vehicles. The driver-side seat belt pretensioner anchor may have been improperly crimped, possibly resulting in the seat belt webbing detaching from the anchor in the event of a crash.
Risk: In the event of a crash, seat belt webbing that detaches from the anchor will not properly restrain the driver, increasing their risk of injury.
Fix: Ford has notified owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the driver's side pretensioner assembly, free of charge. The recall began November 12, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S37.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge recalled in the UK or Europe?
Recalls issued by the UK's DVSA and through the EU's Safety Gate system that cover this model and build period. European models can differ from U.S. ones, and "years estimated" means the recall gave no build dates, so confirm your own car with your registration or VIN.
UK DVSAMvl: rear-view camera distorted and/or loss of image
Risk: Affected vehicles may have an issue with the rear-view camera. Drivers may experience a distorted or loss of image.
Fix: Check vehicle and replace camera as required.
UK DVSACrossCar: Sync3 Rear-View Camera Software Update
Risk: On affected vehicles a software problem may result in issues with the rear-view camera that reduce the driver’s view or with it remaining on after a reversing event.
Fix: Update the vehicle software to the latest level.
UK DVSABrake Hose Leak
Risk: On affected vehicles there is the possibility of the front brake hoses leaking.
Fix: Replace both front brake hoses and modify the hose routing and ride height sensor if necessary.
How often does the 2019 Ford Edge fail its MOT?
Why they failed: the share of failed tests with at least one fault in each area (a test can fail on several). Cars first registered in 2019, tested in Great Britain in 2023; first registration is usually, but not always, the model year. Source: DVSA anonymised MOT tests and results, Open Government Licence v3.0.

Per dealership at 69,000 miles, need to repair torque converter and planetary assembly or replace transmission
Car started running running roughly with white smoke coming out the exhaust. As since researched, it’s a known issue, the coolant intrusion into the cylinder. Repair shop says it needs a new engine. I called Ford to check to see if they could offer any assistance but they couldn’t, the car is just out of warranty (2019 with 62,000 miles). They opened a case #CXH-09690702 and advised to keep all repair receipts in case Ford should ever do a recall in the future.
The vehicle shudders and misses bad at this has been going on for several months. Wehaditscanned by a transmission shop and the said it was spark plug trouble. We replaced them twice and did not fix problem. We had it scanned again and was coil packs which we replaced twice an it did not fix it. Ford dealership did a scan and said it was the torque converter and would be $4000.00 to fix. Transmission shop quoted about 2800.00. They said to wait till mid October because Ford was making a valve body that might fix the problem.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Edge. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure caused by coolant intrusion into the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,330.
accelerated from a stop sign and engine cut out, leaving me stopped dead in the middle of the street, the engine would not restart after 4 tries, I let it sit, I googled the incident, and was told to let car sit for a minute and try to restart. I let it sit for a minute and it restarted like nothing happened. Google said there was a sensor fault because of an error temperature reading in the crank position sensor, so the car shut down to protect the engine. I think this could have been a dangerous situation, if there had been traffic. the temperature gauge read normal.
The engine blew due to coolant getting into the engine. This happened in 2025 and I had to have the engine replaced and pay completely out of pocket for it. I see that there is an investigation into 2015-2018 Ford Edge motors. Mine is a 2019 but has the same engine and had the same issue.
My 2019-2021 Ford Edge, equipped with the 8F35 8-speed automatic transmission, is experiencing severe transmission shuddering, harsh shifting, and jerking symptoms consistent with premature torque converter and internal mechanical failure. I had to pay 800 out-of-pocket for dealership diagnostics and a transmission fluid flush to address these severe driveability issues. Despite the flush, the vehicle continues to shift poorly, presenting an unpredictable driving hazard during acceleration and highway merging. Ford corporate has acknowledged the systemic nature of this transmission defect by…
My drivers side seat belt is getting stuck while pulling it out. It clicks and becomes stuck and I can’t put it on. When I do finally get it on I became stuck on 3 separate occasions and couldn’t physically get it off without help. I haven’t brought it to be inspected because my vin is not listed in the recall of driver side seatbelt. No lamps or messages prior.
I am wanting to share my concerns about my 2019 Ford Edge. My Edge has 64,500 miles on it and the transmission needs replacing; it is sitting in my back driveway. My daughter and I just made it home from a trip when the transmission gave out - when we pulled into the driveway, and it was still in gear, it put itself into park! We tried to put it in drive and reverse and again, as we were watching the gear dial - it put itself into park again! Before that, I had noticed some issues about jerking and revving up so I took it to the nearest Ford dealership - after hooking it up to the computer…
Computer screen does not work all the time, and the backup camera does not work, and when it does, it will stay on while moving forward. The computer screen freezes up and will not allow me to adjust the temperature or the radio and other options that are normally on the screen.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH, the engine overheated. Coolant was added to the coolant reservoir, and the driver was able to continue driving. Several days later, the heat became inoperable. Upon research, the failure was associated with TSB 19-2346. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a pressure test, but no leaks were found. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The message "Coolant Low" was displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion…
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while changing the lug nuts on the wheels, the contact became aware that the lug nuts were swollen. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and it was determined that the lug nuts needed to be replaced due to the outer shells being swollen. The dealer informed the contact that the lug nuts were defective due to the swelling, which caused the lug nuts to no longer fit the studs properly. The contact stated that the failure was a known issue. The lug nuts were replaced with solid steel lug nuts without caps. The manufacturer was not…

Counts are a starting point, not a verdict: popular models collect more complaints because more of them are on the road, and NHTSA does not verify individual reports. To see whether a recall is still open on your car, enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls (U.S.) or your registration at check-vehicle-recalls.service.gov.uk (UK). Had a safety problem?
