Has the 2025 Ford Mustang been recalled?
6 U.S. safety recalls. Repairs are free at a franchised dealer; some are done over the air.
Electrical System: Wiring Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Mustang vehicles. The engine compartment wiring harness ground connections may fracture and result in a loss of drive power, or a loss of function in the windshield washing system, headlights, air conditioning, or engine cooling fan. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment," and 104, "Windshield Wiping and Washing Systems."
Risk: A loss of driver power increases the risk of a crash. In addition, a loss of headlight function or windshield washing system function can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the engine compartment wiring harness ground terminals, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed September 5, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated in March 2027. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C40. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on August 28, 2026.
Visibility: Windshield Wiper/Washer: Motor Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Mustang and 2025-2026 Mustang GTD vehicles. During certain cold temperature conditions, the windshield wipers may function only at their high-speed setting and the washing system may fail to function properly.
Risk: Windshield wipers or a washing system that fails to function as intended can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the wiper motor as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 11, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C32. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on July 2, 2026.
Engine And Engine Cooling: Exhaust System: Emission Control: Gas Recirculation Valve (Egr Valve) Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2025 Ranger, Lincoln Nautilus, Mustang, Maverick, Explorer, Escape, Lincoln Corsair, Bronco Sport, and Bronco vehicles. The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve may fail, resulting in an unexpected loss of drive power.
Risk: An unexpected loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the EGR valves, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 31, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S10. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on March 4, 2026.
Exterior Lighting Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Mustang, and Mustang GTD vehicles. Water may enter the body control module and cause a loss of communication with the exterior lighting, including the license plate light, side marker, and tail lights. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Risk: License plate, side marker, and tail lights that fail to illuminate as intended can reduce visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and seal the body seams as necessary. Dealers will also inspect the body control module for corrosion and replace it, if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 10, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C43.
Exterior Lighting: Lighting Control Module Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2025 Lincoln Nautilus, Mustang Mach E, and Mustang vehicles. The LED Driver Modules may contain a burnt diode, which can cause the low-beam and high-beam headlights, daytime running lights, front position lights, and front turn signals to fail in the affected headlight. On Nautilus vehicles only, this condition may also cause the rear tail light, rear turn signal, and rear position light to fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Risk: Exterior lighting failure can reduce visibility for the driver and other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the LED Driver Modules, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 22, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C39.
Power Train: Automatic Transmission: Fluid/Lubricant: Valves/Valve Body Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2024-2025 F-150, Bronco, 2024 Ranger, 2025 Mustang, Explorer, and Aviator vehicles. The transmission valve body may have been machined incorrectly, which can cause reverse gear failure, or unexpected forward movement in reverse or neutral gear.
Risk: Unexpected vehicle movement increases the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the transmission main control valve body, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 11, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S19.
Is the 2025 Ford Mustang recalled in the UK or Europe?
Recalls issued by the UK's DVSA and through the EU's Safety Gate system that cover this model and build period. European models can differ from U.S. ones, and "years estimated" means the recall gave no build dates, so confirm your own car with your registration or VIN.
UK DVSA26C32 Mustang - Windshield Wipers and Washer System Potentially Inoperative During Freezing Temperatures
Risk: On affected vehicles during freezing temperatures or below the windshield wipers may become inoperative. In other cases the windshield wipers may operate only at the high-speed setting and an inoperative windshield washer system may prevent washer fluid from being effectively used to clean the windshield.
Fix: Inspect the windshield wiper system and replace the wiper motor if necessary.
UK DVSAMustang - Powertrain Control Module Software Update
Risk: On affected vehicles equipped with a Ford Performance Whipple Supercharger Upgrade Kit the updated software may not be able to detect module hardware errors leading to unintended acceleration or unintended vehicle movement increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Update the Powertrain Control Module software.
UK DVSAMustang: Incorrect Homologation details on VIN label
Risk: Affected vehicles may not show the correct Homologation regulation on the Vehicle Identification (VIN) label.
Fix: Replace the VIN label.
UK DVSA25C43 Mustang - Inspection For Water Intrusion Into The Body Control Module And Connectors
Risk: A number of vehicles could potentially be affected by water ingress in the Body Control Module (BCM) leading to corrosion inside. Water ingress into the BCM may prevent exterior lighting components from functioning as intended.
Fix: Inspect and repair the windscreen for leaks if necessary. Replace BCMs affected by water ingress.
UK DVSA24C35 Mustang - Potential black instrument panel cluster
Risk: On affected vehicles black Instrument cluster screen may occur randomly and persist until the next time the vehicle is turned on.

While driving my 2025 Ford Mustang GT at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly lost power. The vehicle was unable to maintain normal power while I was traveling in active highway traffic. This created a serious safety risk because surrounding vehicles were traveling at highway speeds, and the sudden loss of propulsion could have resulted in a rear-end collision or other crash while I attempted to safely get the vehicle out of traffic. I subsequently learned that my vehicle is included in Ford Safety Recall 26C40 / NHTSA Recall 26V547. The recall information states that an engine…
According to the open recalls on this vehicle there are multiple defects outstanding that increase the risk of a crash. The repairs may take 3 months before they are completed. Am I the consumer to drive a known dangerous vehicle while waiting for the repairs? Who is responsible should I be involved in a accident caused by one of these defects? Why isn't Ford required to provide a loaner vehicle while I wait for the repairs?
My car has a recall that has to do with the engine possibly shutting off completely while driving normally and there is no remedy or solution for the recall it states in the recall that it may cause an accident. I would like to know what can be done for me because the idea of having to wait for my car to basically just shut off and crash on me seems a little crazy. I would just like to know what my options are!

Ford describes their pre-collision system: The system warns the driver of potential hazards by providing three levels of assistance. Alert: When active, a flashing visual warning appears and an audible warning tone sounds. Brake Support: The system helps reduce the impact speed by preparing the brakes for rapid braking, and Emergency Braking. I have driven my vehicle around Jacksonville with the setting at High to give me three car lengths warning. After hours of driving on I95 and I10 in Jacksonville, with cars cutting in front of my at less than three car lengths, I only received one warning…
The vehicle experienced a sudden steering malfunction involving the electronic steering gear. While backing out of a parking structure, the steering wheel suddenly jerked and locked instead of naturally correcting, resulting in collision with a pillar. There were no warning lights, steering fault messages, or prior symptoms before the incident. Restarting the vehicle did not resolve the issue. The dealership confirmed the issue and documented “loss of communication with steering gear,” “internal steering gear failure,” and “no signs of damage causing failure.” The steering gear is being…
The Main screen in the car completely went black all of the sudden with no prior warnings or signs to show cause of the outage. It has not happened again but just this one time. I also have noticed if I put the vehicle in lane keeping control it starts to leak…

Counts are a starting point, not a verdict: popular models collect more complaints because more of them are on the road, and NHTSA does not verify individual reports. To see whether a recall is still open on your car, enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls (U.S.) or your registration at check-vehicle-recalls.service.gov.uk (UK). Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA; complaints are what trigger investigations and recalls.
