Power steering and stabalink malfunction causing a radom and very dangerous complete power steering failure. GM was forced to do two recalls for this failure, one in 2016 and another in 2021 but they excluded any Canyon made after May of 2015. The recall should include these as well because their claimed fix did no such thing which is very dangerous to the occupants of the Canyon as well as other vehicle occupants on the road.

The truck will lose power steering and power down. Several codes will come on. the system failure is the power steering control module rack and components The safety risk is loss of power steering assist, no traction control, StabiliTrak message on dash, abs and traction control lights is on, don't feel safe to drive. The problem is confirmed by a dealer. The component has not been inspected. Yes, there are warning messages on the dash, and they appear in February 2022. A loss or reduction in power steering assist may increase the risk of a crash. In my opinion, this issue has to be solved and fixed by the dealer at no cost to the customer.

POWER STEERING AND STABILITRAK INTERMITTENTLY GO OUT. HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AND ALSO WHILE TURNING. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC NEARBY WHILE TURNING. IT DOES SO WITHOUT WARNING AND WILL RESET AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF (SOMETIMES TAKES MORE THAN ONE TRY). I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT ONLY ON VEHICLES BUILT BETWEEN CERTAIN DATES. UNFORTUNATELY MY VEHICLE FALLS OUTSIDE THE RECALL PARAMETERS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT GMC NEEDS TO ADDRESS
