Seats: Critical Fasteners General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado vehicles equipped with a manual passenger seat. The front passenger seat may have a hook attachment that was not properly welded, allowing it to separate from the inboard track of the seat frame.
Risk: An improperly welded seat frame may not properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Fix: Dealers will inspect the front passenger seat and replace the cushion frame, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 6, 2022. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N222368320.

Could not turn the ignition key off beyond the Accessory position in order to turn the key completely off to remove the ignition key. The key would stick in the ON oor Accessory position. The problem was in the microswitch button on the console shifter, the front button is pushed in to enable shifting into the PARK position. This is a safety concern due to not being able to turn off the ignition and also to not remove the key from the ignition. The repair was done by the dealer, a control unit in the shifter was replaced to correct the problem. Part cost was $525, labor was $225.73. This is a…
The ignition key gets stuck in the ignition after shutting off the car. The key may not be removed from the ignition. The failure of the transmission shift control mechanism directly impacts the safe, mechanical operation of the vehicle's powertrain and transmission park-lock functions. The vehicle was taken to a local GM dealer and the problem was recreated. This is a known problem with the transmission shift control assembly for several model years (2020 - 2023). Also, there was a previous class action lawsuit (Jefferson & Riley class action settlement) which specifically covered a…
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Canyon. The contact stated that while the gear shifter was shifted to park(P), the contact was unable to remove the key from the ignition switch. The contact stated that after turning the steering wheel to the right in a certain way, the key was able to be removed from the ignition switch. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
2022 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab. After the vehicle is shifted into Park and the engine is shut off, the ignition key cannot be removed from the cylinder. The key is physically locked, the steering wheel will not lock, and the vehicle cannot be reliably secured. The only workaround is to restart the engine and cycle the shifter repeatedly until the interlock releases the key. Recurring. Safety implications: operator cannot reliably power the vehicle off in an emergency, cannot lock the steering column, and may be forced to leave an unattended vehicle in accessory mode — fire, electrical, and theft…
At various times key can not be removed from the ignition. I understand this to be a common problem on these trucks, but dealer does not agree.
To Whom It May Concern, This letter is submitted to report a safety-related defect involving an airbag sensor failure on a 2022 GMC Canyon. The vehicle experienced a failure of an airbag sensor that is part of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). The sensor is required for proper airbag deployment and system readiness. Failure of this component compromises the operation of the airbag system and presents a potential safety risk to vehicle occupants. The failure occurred on a vehicle approximately four years in service and was diagnosed as an airbag sensor defect. The sensor assembly…
After driving vehicle and parking vehicle turn key off key will not turn all the way off to pull key out of ignition switch. The vehicle had 35,750 miles when brought to dealership I had told them this has happened multiple times I had to restart vehicle move vehicle shift vehicle manually or drive around block park again and then key would turn all the way off and come out, When I was contacted from the GMC dealership they said they could not duplicate the problem but I have paperwork from them and the mileage during drop off which was 35,750 miles and pickup at 35,751 miles I also told them…
The ECU electric control model has now burned up 3 times and the dealership just keeps replacing it the only thing they keep saying not to fill up the gas tank all the way? The gas gauge just goes dead
Error code p0494 conducted upon check engine light coming on.
The fuel gauge on the vehicle does not appear to read accurately. The distance to empty reading varies on every refuel regardless if the same amount of fuel is filled in the vehicle. I believe this is a safety issue because a driver can run out of gas causing an accident due to inaccurate fuel gauge readings. I’ve taken to the dealership and have been told they cannot reproduce the complaint and it remains defective. I’m hoping if others experience the same complaint then a recall may be activated.
While driving out of a parking lot, my power steering stopped working and I had to regain control to manually steer the vehicle. After stopping and turning off the engine to check the serpentine belt, the power steering came back on, but the lane departure assist function was no longer working. It appears to be the same problem that some of the 2015 and other GMC Canyon models had. Took it to my GMC dealer for warranty evaluation.
Vehicle doors are uneven. Crooked. Headlights/taillights get foggy to the point where you cannot see the lights. Doors wont shut properly. Powertrain issues. Vibration after certain speeds. Transmission delays gear switching. Transmission kicking and banging. Exhaust has a hole in it. I can provide more videos details via the email if possible.
