Engine And Engine Cooling: Engine: Hard Parts Internal/Mechanical General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with a 6.2L V8 gas engine. The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.
Risk: Engine failure increases the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will inspect the engine, and as necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass inspection, dealers will add higher viscosity oil, install 6 oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and update the owner's manual. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 18, 2025. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N252494000.
Service Brakes, Hydraulic: Brake Fluid Low Warning: LampOver-the-air fix General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2023-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, and Escalade ESV vehicles. The electronic brake control module software may fail to display a warning light when a loss of brake fluid occurs. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."
Risk: Without a warning light, the vehicle may be driven with low brake fluid, which can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: The Electronic Brake Control Module (eBCM) software will be updated through an over-the-air (OTA) update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 25, 2024. Owners can contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N242447990.

The tailgate's electronic gate-release switch may short circuit due to water intrusion, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently unlatching while the vehicle is in park.
Risk: An unlatched tailgate may open while driving and result in a loss of unsecured cargo, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Owners are advised to check that the tailgate is closed and latched before driving. Dealers will replace the exterior touchpad switch assemblies, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 17, 2024. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Risk: DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: The body control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2023. Upper grille deflector broke off without impact at highway speed.
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle jerked and lost motive power. The vehicle was restarted and driven at reduced power to the dealer, where unknown electrical repairs were performed. The failure persisted, and the vehicle was towed to a second dealer, Grissom Chevrolet (181 S Interstate 20 Frontage Rd, Pecos, TX 79772), who replaced the engine. However, the failure recurred, and the vehicle was towed back to the first dealer, who diagnosed that the spark plugs and other unknown parts needed to be replaced. After the dealer performed the unknown…
It is a 23 GMC Sierra Denali has the L87 [XXX].2 with 43,000 miles an blew up yesterday while on vacation in [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
A 6.2 engine operated as expected for 75,000 miles. I turned a corner at an intersection, and had a loud knocking in the engine occur. For the first 75,000 miles, there wasn't any unusual engine noises or oil consumption.Seconds later the engine light illuminated on the dash, reduced engine power, and every safety light within the dash was going on and off. I managed to drive slow and return to my residence and have the truck towed to the dealership to have the engine replaced. As many have learned, the recall from GM states to either pass a PICO test and change to 0W-40, or have the engine…
While driving at highway speeds the upper front grill part of my gmc sierra truck simply flew off. It went airborne and flew behind me causing traffic directly behind me to swerve out of the way into other traffic lanes to avoid missing the grill piece from hitting them. There was no indication of the part being loose or rattling or any warning. It simply just flew off. This could have easily caused an accident or flew into my windshield and cracked it as well. This needs to be investigated. This is a common gmc sierra 2022+ body style issue as I have heard from other owners experienced the…
The contact works for a company that owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced intermittent electrical failures. While driving, the vehicle stalled upon acceleration, followed by a total loss of electrical power. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for inspection; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The failure mileage was 177,000.
600 miles and 3 months out of warranty the dash completely disappeared. Dealership says the costs is in excess of $1600 to fix the issue. I have researched this and it is a common problem with these trucks and it needs an instrument cluster. Given the fact that GMC controls the panels to these trucks I feel certain that this is actually caused by them and should be fixed under a recall. We have owned the truck 6 months. We are not able to see the speed limit, gas limits or anything on the dash any longer.
Addendum to previous submission # 11760415. At 15,033 mileage again multiple codes present along with a rough running engine. Dealership service dept confirmed on 9/17/2026 verification of 10 active codes , 2 pending codes triggering check engine light. Onstar notification as well of engine issue. Prominently codes P0016 & P0340 lead the list. PICO testing was stated to have failed two out of 3 parameters. Officially stated now as an engine defect which is being directed to be replaced with a remanufactured , not new , motor. Very fortunate to not have experienced dramatic failure ( loss of…
The front grille trim moulding failed and flew off on the highway. Also, the forward collision light on vehicle from the front camera not working and needing to be replaced.
Purchased above listed vehicle new in XXX. Immediately noticed a 'coolant' smell in cab. brought vehicle in for coolant smell issue on XXX and XXX. We were told that there was no issue until finally on XXX we were told the radiator needed to be replaced at OUR expense. XXX we received a letter from GMC advising the "engine coolant control valve" may fail. In XXX while driving on mountain roads (we live in [XXX]) the check engine light came on and while at 50 mph, the vehicle went into "limp mode" we lost power and speed was immediately reduced. We now know that a symptom of that valve failure…
Truck rear wheels locked up while going between 45 - 50 mph nearly causing accident. Driver behind me had to lock-up their breaks to avoid collision. This is happening every time I drive the truck for more than 30 minutes. It is happening multiple times a day now. I cannot drive truck - too unsafe to drive. Tried getting serviced, but local GMC dealer said they are backed up with truck transmission issues and can't get mine in until Sep 15 - 3 weeks after first reporting. No warning signs. The locking of rear wheels takes me by surprise.
My 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 4WD currently at 67659 miles was taken in to the dealer because of excessive jerk when accelerating or trying to reverse, diagnostic scan failed for check engine and ABS trouble codes. The scan return code PO747 indicating transmission pressure control solenoid “A” was stuck on for a predetermined period of time. The recommended repair is replacement of automatic transmission, solenoid control valve body. I’m aware that GM has issued a TSB 25–NA-255 and special coverage N24245441–02 addressing this exact failure on the GM 10 speed and that GM previously issued a…

To see whether a recall is still open on your car, enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls (U.S.) or your registration at check-vehicle-recalls.service.gov.uk (UK). Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA; complaints are what trigger investigations and recalls.
