Engine And Engine Cooling: Engine: Hard Parts Internal/Mechanical General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with a 6.2L V8 gas engine. The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.
Risk: Engine failure increases the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will inspect the engine, and as necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass inspection, dealers will add higher viscosity oil, install 6 oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and update the owner's manual. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 18, 2025. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N252494000.

The electronic brake control module software may fail to display a warning light when a loss of brake fluid occurs. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."
Risk: Without a warning light, the vehicle may be driven with low brake fluid, which can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: The Electronic Brake Control Module (eBCM) software will be updated through an over-the-air (OTA) update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 25, 2024. Owners can contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N242447990.

2024 GMC Yukon XL Denali with approximately 30,000 miles. The vehicle previously completed the L87 recall remedy (NHTSA 25V274000). The dealer inspected the engine, it passed, and the higher-viscosity oil change, filter, oil-fill cap, and owner’s manual insert were performed. Despite that remedy, the vehicle later experienced a sudden loss of propulsion on the highway while traveling with family. The vehicle began shaking and the engine shut down. There were no check-engine lights, warning messages, or other notifications prior to or during the failure. The vehicle was towed to a GM dealer…
My 2024 GMC Yukon XL Denali Ultimate (VIN 1GKS2KKLXRR331476, 6.2L L87) has been consuming engine oil excessively since early ownership. On August 20, 2026, while driving my 2024 GMC Yukon XL Denali equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine at approximately 70 mph on the interstate, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of motive power without adequate warning. The vehicle unexpectedly shifted into neutral and would no longer accelerate or maintain highway speed. I am filing this complaint regarding a serious and ongoing safety issue with my GMC Yukon Denali that began with a complete engine failure while driving on the highway with my entire family in the vehicle. While driving at highway speed (about 60–70 mph), the vehicle suddenly lost power and shifted into neutral on its own. Counts are a starting point, not a verdict: popular models collect more complaints because more of them are on the road, and NHTSA does not verify individual reports. To see whether a recall is still open on your car, enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls (U.S.) or your registration at check-vehicle-recalls.service.gov.uk (UK). Had a safety problem?
