We own 2026 GMC Yukon XL Denali with 6.2L V8 engine with just under 4600 miles. On Monday October 19, 2026 while driving the engine seized up. It is at dealer and the are replacing the engine, radiator and about 65 other parts under hood. We do have a very short phone video of the noise it made right as it seized up!! We heard about investigation ongoing and wanted to help.
The driver side head light developed a stress fracture on the first cold day we had in Long Island. It has been looked at by the dealer SuN gmc who are denying responsibility and claiming it was damaged by a rock. There is no visible damage to the outside of the light.
Truck has shuttered, rough idle since May 2026 after purchased new March 2026. We have been to two different GMC dealers who cannot duplicate the problem. Last week the truck started to shutter regularly after highway travel. When coming to a stop in traffic, the truck shutters to kill, loses power, RPMs drop below 500 and then recovers to a rough idle. Last evening Oct 20,2026 while driving the engine light came on, vehicle computer stated ā Issue with Engine / Transmission System Schedule service now.ā This is the third time the vehicle will be at the GM dealer for diagnosis. Two timesā¦
While driving there was a noise that started in the engine area. The vehicle was going 55-60 mph at the time it started. It became more and more frequent. The check engine light came on just before the engine completely seized up and lost all power. Dealership is saying there is definitely internal engine noise and engine failure.
Computer screen is black 90% of the time. During this vehicle has no back up cameras, no control of air conditioning, no control of heat or defrost, no heated seats, no mapping system, no vehicle safety display of tire pressure, oil life, brake life, no ability to control radio. These features cannot be turned on with manual push buttons as they are controlled thru the computer screen. 2 complaints to GMC have resulted in them stating they have no fix as it is a software issue. They have refused dealer request to replace the computer. As a [XXX] with health issues, the vehicle has sat parkedā¦
9 months into ownership, with 24,000 miles I had complete engine failure pulling into an intersection. Slamming into park while moving and shutting down. This is a known issue with the GM 6.2 liter engines but I specifically waited to order a 2026 as this was far outside the recall window GM had in place for this known issue and was led to believe the issue was fixed going forward. The car was towed to a GM dealer and sat for 39 days for a complete engine replacement. Now, a week after it has been returned it has sputtered and shut off as I am coming to a stop requiring a restart, not unlikeā¦
The large central infotainment touchscreen (which controls climate control/AC, navigation/maps, audio, backup camera, and all primary vehicle functions) has repeatedly failed by going completely dark/blank without warning on my 2026 GMC Yukon Denali XL purchased new on [XXX]. The screen has gone dark on three separate occasions. First failure occurred prior to [XXX]; vehicle was taken to Champion GMC (7885 W Grand River Rd, Brighton, MI 48114) for repair and returned to me. The screen failed again shortly after. Second repair attempt was made on 06/22/2026; vehicle was returned and the screenā¦
On 3/14/26, on I-75 in Troy, Michigan at 70mph the vehicle, with 4000k miles on the odometer completely shut off. I pushed to restart the engine and it would not restart. My whole family was in the car and we were on a curve. I was able to coast to a flat shoulder. The vehicle would not restart or shift out of park. OnStar took seven hours to tow the vehicle. The dealer is installing a new L87 6.2L engine. I do not have the vehicle back yet. I received an economy car as a loaner. The dealer says GM will not extend the factory warranty despite the engine replacement. My family could have beenā¦
I was on the Highway and had the vehicle on cruise control, the super cruise was not available the entire trip. Suddenly a warning came on saying that supper cruise was not available please take the wheel, the truck started slowing down drastically while Iām doing 70mph which is the speed limit. I put my foot on the brake to disengage the cruise control but that did not work. I had to push the cancel button on the wheel to take it off. This has happened to me twice while on the highway.
In the 2026 Yukons, almost all physical buttons have been replaced by the giant center touchscreen. When starting my vehicle, about a third of the time the screen will not come on, and canāt be turned back on by any means. It will randomly come back on after a few more trips/restarts. This renders several critical systems inoperable. All HVAC does not work, defrosters arenāt available, back up cameras and parking assist is not available, and control of any navigation functions or options (ie heated/cooled seats) are not possible. There are no physical buttons for these items, so there are noā¦
Vehicle has 2200 miles, equipped with the Diesel engine and failed at a red light. GM has to install a new engine.
This issue affects all vehicles in the GMC lineup. The forward collision alert system is so sensitive that it gives false positives constantly which causes 2 major safety issues with the vehicle. First is that it brakes without warning and when completely unnecessary. The 2nd is that vehicles like mine with a heads up display, have the entire display flash a very bright yellow blocking the field of vision to the front of the vehicle. The system is not able to be disengaged permanently and can cause rear end collisions by braking when no obstacle exists and blocks the ability to see in front ofā¦

Counts are a starting point, not a verdict: popular models collect more complaints because more of them are on the road, and NHTSA does not verify individual reports. To see whether a recall is still open on your car, enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls (U.S.) or your registration at check-vehicle-recalls.service.gov.uk (UK). Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA; complaints are what trigger investigations and recalls.
