Has the 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE been recalled?
1 U.S. safety recall. Repairs are free at a franchised dealer; some are done over the air.
Steering: Electric Power Assist System Jaguar Land Rover North America, LCC (Jaguar) is recalling one 2016 Jaguar F-Type vehicle manufactured February 3, 2015. The affected vehicle has the power steering system still set in the supplier's factory operating mode. In this condition, in the event of a steering system malfunction, the vehicle can experience additional steering inputs from the electric power steering system.
Risk: If the vehicle is in motion when this occurs, the driver may unexpectedly lose the ability to control the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Jaguar will notify the owner, and a dealer will either correct the steering system software or replace the steering rack, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin October 31, 2015. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is J055.
Is the 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE recalled in the UK or Europe?
Recalls issued by the UK's DVSA and through the EU's Safety Gate system that cover this model and build period. European models can differ from U.S. ones, and "years estimated" means the recall gave no build dates, so confirm your own car with your registration or VIN.
UK DVSASecurity Guidance
Risk: Jaguar Land Rover in conjunction with law enforcement and insurance bodies is aware of the increase in thefts of vehicles in specific geographical locations within the United Kingdom. There is no fault with Jaguar Land Rover's security systems and they continue to meet stringent automotive legislation. Jaguar Land Rover is offering owners guidance on how to maximise vehicle security and protect against theft
Fix: Vehicle registered keepers will be sent a security guidance letter only - there is no repair action.
UK DVSAThe vehicle failed to routinely achieve the required levels of co2 emissions
Risk: Vehicles failed to routinely achieve the required levels of CO2 emissions.
Fix: Update the vehicle software to the latest version.
UK DVSAFuel may leak
Risk: The brazing of the fuel rail end caps is inconsistent and may not correctly seal the fuel rail ends. Fuel vapour and liquid fuel leaks can occur over time. This can lead to a liquid fuel leak into the engine bay.
Fix: On affected vehicles replace the fuel rail with a correctly manufactured version.
UK DVSAOne or both front indicators may fail
Risk: The driver will not be alerted to a failure of one or both of the front directional indicator lamps. This could lead to an extended period of driving with failed lamps where other drivers will not have clear indication of the driver's intent.
Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and update the vehicle with the latest software.
UK DVSASeat belt pretensioner may not deploy
Risk: It has been identified by the seat belt Pre-Tensioner manufacturer that the pre-tensioner initiator generant mix ratio does not meet specification. This can therefore result in the initiator not functioning correctly which can lead to none activation of the pre-tensioner.
Fix: Recall all affected vehicles to check the pre-tentioner and if required replace it with a new quality assured component.
UK DVSAVehicle stability may be compromised
Risk: A bolt retaining the rear lower control arm to rear knuckle joint fixing may not have been tightened to correct specification. Failure of the bolt could affect control of the vehicle.
Fix: On affected vehicles replace the rear lower control arm to rear knuckle joint fixing
EU Safety GateCertain vehicles fitted with 2.0L Diesel Engines may emit excessive levels of CO2 and may not conform with the certified condition.CO2 and other greenhouse gases contribute to global warming pollution. Symptoms of failure was present prior to complete failure. At highway speed, vehicle sometimes resisted steering input. At 20-30mph, steering wanders side to side and fights my steering inputs. When complete failure occurred, steering became difficult at low speed, parking situations. No warning or error message on dash. Vehicle was towed to dealer where they determined the electric motor on the steering rack suffered an internal failure. When disconnected from power, the steering rack was smooth, albeit unassisted. When connected to power, the steering rack was stiff and difficult to turn. It…
Rear back up camera does not work. Vehicle displays ‘Rear Camera System Fault’ message. No image on screen when reverse gear selected.
I have been encountering a persistent issue with the engine, which exhibits symptoms of underperformance, occasionally necessitating a complete stop. Additionally, the ABS warning light activates intermittently without providing any diagnostic codes before subsequently disappearing. A recent diagnostic check identified several minor concerns. I've also observed a degradation in the vehicle's handling characteristics, paired with a "Stability Control No Longer Available" warning message. I have ruled out a fuse-related issue, as all fuses have been assessed and found to be functional…
The Rear Differential started making an odd noise. Took it to the dealer where it is now and they said it needs a new rear differential. They are blaming the tires...
I was traveling at the legal speed limit of 70 mph on the freeway with no vehicles within 50 yards of my vehicle in all directions. I had been driving for about an hour and was on a bluetooth connected phone call through the car speakers when I heard the sound of glass popping and shattering over my left shoulder. First, I looked in the rear view mirror to see if the hatch window had shattered, but it had not. Next, I looked over my left shoulder at the driver side quarter window, the vehicle only has two seats so there is no back door window, and saw that it was completely shattered but held…
I own a 2016 Jaguar F-Type R. Some of these cars have an inherent manufacturing flaw with the coating on the trim pieces. From my research I discovered that this is a wide ranging problem for their vehicles in geographic locations that are consistently hot. Jaguar Land Rover North America is well aware of this problem. On 1/24/20 I brought my vehicle in for service. On this service call the vehicle was under warranty. I pointed out the issue with the right side vent trim piece, the worst of the deteriorating parts. The coating was deteriorating from the heat. In these cases they start to peel…
THIS CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. WHEN SHIFTING UP, EVEN IF YOU TAKE YOU FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR COMPLETELY, THE ENGINE DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR INPUT AS IT REMAINS AT THE RPM WHEN THE SHIFT WAS INITIATED ( 3500 RPM AS AN EXAMPLE ) FOR OVER A SECOND, DROPS 200 RPM THEN INCREASES 50 RPM AND THEN FINALLY WILL DROP TO IDLE. THE ENGINE IS NOT RESPONDING TO THROTTLE INPUT WHEN SHIFTING THIS LEAVES THE ENGINE AT A MUCH HIGHER RPM WHEN TRYING TO SHIFT UP AND MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SHIFT SMOOTHLY SINCE THE ENGINE IS REVVING TO HIGH FOR THE NEXT SELECTED UP SHIFT…
FOLLOWING "REPAIRS" AT THE DEALERSHIP ON COOLING SYSTEM, CAR NOTIFIED ME OF OVERHEATING HALF WAY HOME WHILE ON HIGHWAY. AFTER NEARLY CRASHING AND BEING HIT IN TRYING TO PULL OVER TO STOP THE VEHICLE, I OPENED THE HOOD TO FIND THE COOLENT LINES HAD BEEN SHAVED AND REPAIRS IN OTHER AREAS VERY POORLY DONE. CAR CONSTANTLY IS LEAKING COOLANT AND OIL. I HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE BATTERY 4 TIMES AND THE CAR REQUIRES DAILY JUMP STARTING. THE CAR PAINT INDICATED A REPAINT JOB WHEN DEL8VERED TO ME WITH 100 MILES OF IT. AFTER CLAIMING TO HAVE REALIGNED THE TIRES AFTER MY FRONTS WENT BAD AFTER 5000 MILES, I…
WHEN CHANGING LANES @ APP. 45MPH, THE CAR INITIALLY FELT AS IF IT WOULD ROLL OVER. THE CAR THEN SWERVED RIGHT AND LEFT , NEARLY PUSHING ME INTO THE TRAFFIC IN THE NEXT LANE. STEERING WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL, REQUIRING MY FULL STRENGTH. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE CAR STRAIGHTENED AND STEERING EFFORT RETURNED TO NORMAL.THIS OCCURRED ON A SMOOTH, 4-LANE ROAD WHICH WAS DRY. JAGUAR SERVICE PERSONNEL WERE AWARE OF SIMILAR ISSUES BUT COLD NOT IDENTIFY A CAUSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JAGUAR F-TYPE. THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING OIL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
THE FLYWHEEL MALFUNCTIONED ON MY JAGUAR F-TYPE BUT JAGUAR, EVEN THOUGH THEY UPDATED THE PART NUMBERS FOR THE FLYWHEEL AND CLUTCH, AND DESPITE THE FACT THAT ANY MALFUNCTION WITH THE FLYWHEEL IS GOING TO COMPROMISE THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY AS THEY ARE CONNECTED MECHANICALLY, ARE REFUSING TO CHANGE THE CLUTCH AND ONLY THE FLYWHEEL. THE CLUTCH/FLYWHEEL FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY. THE CAR BECAME HARDER AND HARDER TO SHIFT AND THEN WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR AT ALL. I STOPPED TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART OR GO INTO GEAR WITHOUT GREAT FORCE AND THEN REQUIRED AS MUCH FORCE TO TAKE IT OUT OF…
