Is the 2013 Jaguar XJ recalled in the UK or Europe?
Recalls issued by the UK's DVSA and through the EU's Safety Gate system that cover this model and build period. European models can differ from U.S. ones, and "years estimated" means the recall gave no build dates, so confirm your own car with your registration or VIN.
UK DVSASecurity Guidance
Risk: Jaguar Land Rover in conjunction with law enforcement and insurance bodies is aware of the increase in thefts of vehicles in specific geographical locations within the United Kingdom. There is no fault with Jaguar Land Rover's security systems and they continue to meet stringent automotive legislation. Jaguar Land Rover is offering owners guidance on how to maximise vehicle security and protect against theft
Fix: Vehicle registered keepers will be sent a security guidance letter only - there is no repair action.
UK DVSAFront air bags may not deploy when required
Risk: Front Air Bags may not deploy when required.
Fix: Update the Restrain Control Module (RCM) with the latest software
UK DVSAPossible loss of steering assistance
Risk: The auxiliary drive belt pulley retainer may fail and cause loss of drive to auxiliary items including the water pump and power steering pump. This may cause an engine management lamp to illuminate engine overheating or a reduction in steering assistance though steering control will be maintained.
Fix: On affected vehicles replace auxiliary belt idler pulley and retainer.
UK DVSADirectional control may be compromised
Risk: A concern has been identified where in the event of prolonged aggressive driving it is possible that the rear toe link will separate from the rear sub-frame. In this event vehicle stability will be compromised and degree of directional control minimised which increases the risk of an accident.
Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the nut and washer assembly on the rear toe link with components of revised design.
UK DVSAEngine may cut out
Risk: It has been established that the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) hoses and resonator pipe have not been assembled to the correct specification. It is therefore possible that under certain conditions the CAC hose can detach from the resonator. This could result in the engine cutting out and possible loss of vacuum assistance for the brake servo.
Fix: Recall the affected vehicle and rectify the issue.
EU Safety GateThe Restraint Control Module (RCM) can be reverted to a default level calibration in case an update is unsuccessfully undertaken. As a result, the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) may fail to correctly deploy the front airbags in the event of an accident, increasing the risk of an injury.

The headlights turn themselves off while I’m driving at night. It’s very scary for a minute or two but I manage to get them back on by manipulating the switch. I mentioned this to the service rep at the Jaguar dealership and his response was “ that’s typical of that car”. It’s been doing this since a purchased the car but is getting worse and dangerous.
IN WEATHER BELOW 30 DEGREES F, PARKED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME ON THE STREET, AND USUALLY IN FROST CONDITIONS, DOORS WILL NOT OPEN ON CAR. ONCE YOU GET DOOR TO OPEN, USUALLY BY LOWERING WINDOW AND UNLOCKING FROM INSIDE, DOORS WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED. ONCE CAR WARMS UP, DOORS LATCH CLOSED. DOORS NEED TO BE HELD BY HAND OR BY BUNGEE CORD TO KEEP CLOSED UNTIL CAR WARMS UP AND DOOR LATCHES CLOSED. AT TIMES, YOU ARE ABLE TO ENTER THE CAR, BUT ONCE INSIDE THE DRIVERS SEAT, YOU CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. DURING THIS INCIDENT, THE DRIVERS WINDOW WAS LOWERED AND DOOR OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS…
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JAGUAR XJ. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE LOW COOLANT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED EVEN THOUGH THE GAUGE APPEARED NORMAL. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS IT STALLED AND SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE STOP/START FEATURE FAILS AND THE CAR STALLS WHILE IN GEAR. THE DRIVE POSITION INDICATOR FLASHES AND IN ORDER TO MOVE THE CAR, IT MUST BE SHUTDOWN AND THEN RESTARTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JAGUAR XJ. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM MODULE FAILED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR OTHER TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,222.
I PURCHASED A 2013 JAGUAR XJ NEW ON OCTOBER 22, 2013 THAT WAS EQUIPPED WITH 4 PIRELLI PZERO NERO TIRES. ON FEBRUARY 22, 2016 I HAD TO REPLACE THE TWO FRONT TIRES 245/45R/19 DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR. THE REAR TIRES WERE DEEMED IN GOOD CONDITION. BUT, A MONTH LATER, ON MARCH 27, 2016 I WAS DRIVING ON A CLEAR FREEWAY WHEN MY PIRELLI PZERO NERO A/S REAR TIRE HAD A BLOWOUT WHERE THE ENTIRE TIRE SEPARATED AT A SEAM SO THAT ONE PART REMAINED ON THE RIM AND THE REMAINING PORTION OF THE TIRE MOVED OFF THE RIM. I WAS TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON OPEN FREEWAY WITH NO DEBRIS OR OBJECTS ON ROAD. THE EXPLODING TIRE…
VEHICLE VIBRATES/SHUDDERS EXCESSIVELY WHEN BRAKING. REPEAT PROBLEM. 4 BRAKE ROTOR/DISC AND/OR PAD REPLACEMENTS IN 13,000 MILES OVER 20 MONTHS.
WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE CAR STARTED ROLLING FORWARD. I HAD TO BRAKE HARD TO STOP IT. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 MORE TIMES OVER THE NEXT 2 MONTHS. ONE TIME THE ENGINE RACED VERY HIGH AND I HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO AVOID CRASHING. AT 5000 MILES I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY COULD FIND NO DIAGNOSES FROM THE AUTO COMPUTER AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE HOW TO FIX, BUT NOW I SEE A NUMBER OF REPORTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT JAGUAR RAPID AND UNEXPLAINED ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. I FEEL JAGUAR IS NOT BEING HONEST ABOUT THIS PROBLEM…
