Is the 2015 Mercedes-Benz B-Class recalled in the UK or Europe?
Recalls issued by the UK's DVSA and through the EU's Safety Gate system that cover this model and build period. European models can differ from U.S. ones, and "years estimated" means the recall gave no build dates, so confirm your own car with your registration or VIN.
UK DVSAAffected vehicles have an engine control unit software that deviates from the local legal requirements
Risk: Affected vehicles have an engine control unit software that deviates from the local legal requirements.
Fix: Update the diesel engine control unit software.
UK DVSAThe calibration of the occupant classification system for the passenger seat may not meet the specification
Risk: The calibration of the occupant classification system for the passenger seat might not meet the specification.
Fix: Replace the passenger seat cushion
UK DVSAElectrical wiring in steering assembly may be insufficiently grounded
Risk: The steering column clock spring may break. This will cause warning messages to illuminate in the instrument cluster but in extreme instances it may cause the driver's airbag to deploy.
Fix: Affected vehicles will be recalled to establish sufficient grounding of the steering components
UK DVSASteering components may be insufficiently grounded
Risk: It has been determined that the steering airbag electrical components are insufficiently grounded. Failure of the steering column module clock spring could result in an inadvertent deployment of the driver airbag which may cause risk of injury to the driver and an increased risk of a potential collision.
Fix: On affected vehicles the manufacturer will fit a contact bridge to the outer race of the steering column top bearing which will provide correct grounding.
UK DVSAElectrical wiring in steering assembly may be insufficiently grounded
Risk: The steering column clock spring may break. This will cause warning messages to illuminate in the instrument cluster but in extreme instances it may cause the driver's airbag to deploy.
Fix: Affected vehicles will be recalled to establish sufficient grounding of the steering components.
UK DVSAStarting current limiter may overload
Risk: Where the car incurs severe engine damage resulting in the engine failing to turn over (engine seizure) and if the driver repeatedly attempts to start the engine despite the engine not cranking the very high electrical current could lead to overheating of the starting current limiter and the potential for a fire.
Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and install an additional fuse in the electrical line to the starter.
UK DVSARisk of fireYears estimated
Risk: A threaded connection in the Prefuse box may not be tightened to the correct specification. This may excessive resistance and create a heat source. This could cause a fire. Additionally vibration may cause power disruption which could affect the operation of steering power assistance ABS SRS and/or instrument failure..
Fix: On affected vehicles check threaded connection and where necessary replace fuse box.
UK DVSARear bench seat may lift up from the rear in a collision & attached seat belts may not be anchored correctly
Risk: On 'B' Class models fitted with 'Easy Vario' rear seat option a bolt securing the seat bench to the body may have been omitted during production. This may allow the seat bench to lift during a frontal collision. Seat belt effectiveness may also be compromised.
Fix: On affected vehicles check for presence and tightness of retaining screws. Fit new screws where necessary and tighten all screws to specification.
UK DVSARisk of fire
Risk: The high pressure fuel lines have not been manufactured to the correct specification which over time can lead to crack formation and fuel leaking. Fuel escaping in the presence of an ignition source could lead to fire.
Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the high pressure fuel lines.
UK DVSAVehicle may cut out
Risk: In rare cases the propulsion control unit may send an incorrect message. This may cause the electric power train to shut down. Power can be restored by the normal start sequence.
Fix: Update software on affected vehicles.
UK DVSAEngine may fail
Risk: The camshaft could break and damage the engine due to it not being manufactured to the correct specification. If the condition occurs it will lead to a sudden loss of drive thereby increasing the risk of a collision.
Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the exhaust camshaft.
UK DVSAFront passenger airbag may not deploy
Risk: Certain fuses in the passenger's footwell may not have been fitted correctly. This may adversely affect the instrument cluster windscreen wipers and the passenger seat occupancy recognition system. In certain conditions this may cause the passenger's air bag not to deploy in an accident.
Fix: On affected vehicles check fuses and if necessary replace fuse box.
UK DVSAOil may leak
Risk: On certain diesel engines the 'O' ring may not have been produced to the correct specification. This may allow oil to leak and contaminate the environment. If excessive oil is lost engine damage may occur.
Fix: On affected vehicles replace the chain tensioner sealing ring.
EU Safety GateThe occupant classification system for the front passenger seat may not be calibrated in accordance with the specifications.Consequently, an installed child seat may be identified as a person or a small, light person as a child seat. As a result, the passenger airbag could be activated despite the presence of a child seat or the passenger airbag could fail to activate despite the presence of a person on the passenger seat, increasing the risk of injuries.

Stacy belts will not retract they remain in a loosened state and I am afraid they will not lock in an accident
Subject: Urgent Safety Concern โ Immediate Attention Required Dear To Whom it may Concern, I am writing to urgently express serious safety concerns with the vehicle I recently [purchased/test drove/had serviced]. Seat Belt Malfunction: The childrenโs seat belts are not retracting properly, posing a significant safety risk. Braking Issues: Despite being told the brakes are at 90%, they feel like they are grinding metal. This is highly concerning. Alignment Problem: The vehicle is veering aggressively to the right during normal driving, which indicates a serious alignment or suspension issueโฆ

The electric motor was leaking coolant and needs to be replaced. I have read countless accounts that this is a known issue with this car.
Occasionally the car will lurch forward when coming to a stop. As you come to a stop it tries to propel the car forward as you are breaking and coming to a stop. Happens rarely but when it does it's a big safety concern.
Failure of seals and or bearings in the electric motor causing coolant to leak into the electric motor, creating an internal electrical fault, seizing electric motor.
The main electric drive motor will start leaking coolant which then damages the motor and even electronics. Well known issue and makes the vehicle unsafe and isn't a matter of "if" but "when" the seals will go bad and this is on our car that has less than 40k miles on the odometer.
Motor/Drive Unit making "whirring" noise that got progressively worse over time. While under warranty MB dealer stated that everything was fine, now after the warranty has expired a different dealer says it is failing and needs to be replaced. Independent shop says there is a potential design defect with the Tesla motor used in this vehicle (many early model S motors were replaced by tesla.)
THIS MB MODEL HAS AN ELECTRIC MOTOR THAT FAILS AT AROUND 35000 TO 40000 MILES, AND MAKES THE VEHICLE TO STOP SUDDENLY CAUSING SERIOUS RISKS TO THE DRIVER IF THIS HAPPENS IN ANY MAIN HIGHWAY. TWO WEEKS AGO MY WIFE WAS DRIVING NORTHBOUND AT THE FAST LANE OF THE PALMETTO EXPRESSWAY , IN MIAMI FL, WHEN THE CAR STOPPED GIVING NO TIME TO AVOID COMING TRAFFIC. FORTUNATELY ONE FDOT RANGER WAS DRIVING SAME WAY AND PROTECT MY WIFE TURNING ON ITS EMERGENCY LIGHTS WHILE THEY WAIT FOR A TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE. THERE WAS NO UNUSUAL SOUND AND NO WARNING DISPLAYED. THE CAR APPEARED NORMAL EXCEPT THE GUAGE WAS SHOWING FULL REGENERATIVE BRAKING WHILE THE CAR WAS COASTING. TRANSMISSION WAS IN D-AUTO. POWER STEERING WORKED, AC AND RADIO WERE STILL ON. I BROUGHT IT TO Aโฆ
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65MPH, EXPERIENCED COMPLETE AND SUDDEN LOSS OF DRIVE/POWER. CAR CHARGE WAS AROUND 1/2 FULL. HAD TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER AS THE CAR ROLLED TO A COMPLETE STOP. FINDING LOTS OF OTHER REPORTS ONLINE, DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE ROOT CAUSE AFTER 1 WEEK. DEALER REPORTED OTHER SIMILAR INCIDENTS FROM OTHER DRIVERS.
UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER - WE HAVE EXPERIENCED TOTAL LOSS OF ACCELERATION AND THROTTLE POWER RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING/DRIFTING TO A STOP. IN ORDER TO REGAIN THROTTLE POWER, THE CAR MUST BE PLACED IN PARK AND THE ENGINE START BUTTON DEPRESSED. THIS LOSS OF POWER HAS OCCURRED TO ME AT LEAST 3 TIMES AT LOW SPEEDS (10-25 MPH), ONCE AT 45 MPH AND ONCE AT 65 MPH WHILE DRIVING IN THE FAR LEFT LANE OF 73 SOUTH TOLL ROAD, CALIFORNIA. ALSO IMPORTANT IS THAT AT THE TIME FORWARD POWER IS LOST, THE REGENERATION GAUGE ON THE FAR RIGHT OF THE DASHBOARD MOVES IMMEDIATELY TO MAXIMUM INDICATION AND ALLโฆ
