Vehicle would unexpectedly stall out while driving at slow speeds or stopped. Car was brought to an independent car shop and it was determined the Fuel pump had started to come apart sending debris into the fuel tank/system causing low fuel pressure. My 2021 CLA 250 that I reached purchased as a used vehicle in the last three months and now is saying SOS unresponsive so in my vehicle where to get a motor vehicle accident, it will not be alerting any emergency personnel authorities and I think it’s really sad the whole fact that Mercedes-Benz has just ran you know a bunch of these vehicles through a bin filter and just because mine isn’t on the recall list even though it’s doing exactly what is one of the main major safety recalls. The sunroof of my 2021 Mercedes CLA 250, with just 49,000 miles, suddenly exploded without any warning. The sound was so loud and violent, it felt like a gunshot. I was immediately overwhelmed with fear and panic as I struggled to process what was happening. In my rearview mirror, I could see shards of glass scattering across the road behind me. When I looked up, I was horrified to see that the remaining glass was hanging in dangerous shards just above my head, barely held in…

2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class: questions owners ask

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class reliable?

NHTSA data alone cannot rate reliability, but it shows what owners reported. Owners filed 9 complaints with NHTSA about the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class; the most common categories were fuel/propulsion system (2, 22.2%), vehicle speed control (2, 22.2%), engine (1, 11.1%). There are 5 safety recalls. 1 complaint mentions a crash, 1 injury was reported.

What are the most common problems with the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class?

Across 9 owner complaints filed with NHTSA, the categories mentioned most often are fuel/propulsion system (22.2% of complaints), vehicle speed control (22.2% of complaints), engine (11.1% of complaints), exterior lighting (11.1% of complaints), forward collision avoidance (11.1% of complaints). One complaint can name several components.

Does the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class have any recalls?

Yes. NHTSA lists 5 recalls for the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class; the most recent (campaign 26V481000, 2026-07-24) concerns Latches/Locks/Linkages: Doors: Lock. Recall repairs are free at a franchised dealer; check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Why does my 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class stall, lose power or shut off while driving?

3 of the 9 owner complaints NHTSA has on file for the 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class (33.3%) describe the engine stalling, losing power or shutting off while driving. One owner wrote: "Vehicle would unexpectedly stall out while driving at slow speeds or stopped. Car was brought to an independent car shop and it was determined the Fuel pump had started to come apart sending debris into the fuel tank/system causing low fuel pressure." (NHTSA complaint 11760635, August 2026). If it happens to your car, check your VIN for open recalls at nhtsa.gov/recalls and report the problem to NHTSA; complaints are what trigger investigations.

Check your own CLA-Class

Counts are a starting point, not a verdict: popular models collect more complaints because more of them are on the road, and NHTSA does not verify individual reports. To see whether a recall is still open on your car, enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls (U.S.) or your registration at check-vehicle-recalls.service.gov.uk (UK). Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA; complaints are what trigger investigations and recalls.
