UK DVSAAirbag off indicator lamp does not light up if front passenger seat is recognised as being unoccupied
Risk: Front passenger air bag off light does not illuminate in some circumstances
Fix: Recode the airbag control unit on affected vehicles
UK DVSARotating front seat wire fixings can loosen
Risk: It has been determined that on Vito models with rotating front seats (SA codes SB5/SB6) the front seats can loosen the wire fixings under the seats when being rotated. Should the wiring harness be damaged in the worst-case scenario this could lead to deactivation of the thorax bag or to unintentional triggering of the thorax bag in the case of a short circuit caused in the process. A disarmed thorax bag is indicated via the SRS indicator lamp. The reason for this is the technical concept which allows for flexible cable harness installation depending on the seat mounting.
Fix: Since the beginning of June 2017 the series has protected the wiring from jamming and damage by using an optimized mounting clip. We will recall and bring the installation of the cables under the swivel seats on the affected vehicles up to the optimized current series status.
UK DVSAElectrical wiring in steering assembly may be insufficiently grounded
Risk: The steering column clock spring may break. This will cause warning messages to illuminate in the instrument cluster but in extreme instances it may cause the driver's airbag to deploy.
Fix: Affected vehicles will be recalled to establish sufficient grounding of the steering components.
UK DVSARetaining ring of the front bearing may be incorrectly locatedYears estimated
Risk: The front wheel bearing retaing ring may not be correctly fitted; this may allow the axle to float in the hub.
Fix: On affected vehciles check location of retaing ring. Refit or replace where necessary.
UK DVSAVehicle control unit may not have been correctly updated
Risk: The vehicles electronic control unit (ECU) may have been incorrectly updated. This may affect the operation of systems controlled by the ECU
Fix: On affected vehicles update the software of the control unit
UK DVSAMissing spot weldsYears estimated
Risk: Due to an error during manufacture the rear cross member may not have been fully spot welded. This may compromise the integrity of the structure.
Fix: On affected vehicles check the designated areas and where necessary weld member
UK DVSAFuel may leak
Risk: A high pressure fuel line to the fuel pump may work looses and allow diesel to leak
Fix: On affected vehicles replace fuel line
UK DVSABraking performance may be reduced
Risk: The brake fluid container may not have been inserted far enough into its mounts or was not secured correctly which can result in it detaching and a loss of brake fluid. The driver could become aware of this by the gradual deterioration of brake performance by having to press the brake pedal further. This can consequently increase the risk of collision.
Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and check the brake fluid reservoir on the affected vehicles to ensure it is properly engaged and if necessary fix it in the correct position.
UK DVSARisk of carbon monoxide poisoning and/or fireYears estimated
Risk: On the affected vehicles the end pipe of the auxiliary air heater may not have been routed correctly due to a cut out in the vehicle floor that is possibly missing. Exhaust from the auxiliary air heater is possibly not correctly diverted under the vehicle floor and could to some extent enter the vehicle interior. There is a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and a risk of fire for the under floor panelling cannot be ruled out.
Fix: Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and check for the presence of the cut out on the affected vehicles and drill this if necessary. Also the correct routing for the end pipe must be checked and where necessary corrected.
EU Safety GateA coding of a control unit may not match the individual vehicle equipment so that the affected control units may malfunction. As a result, some functions of the electronic stability program control unit may not be fully available, thus changing the braking and control behavior, increasing the risk of an accident.

The check engine light came on and the code reads PO52e. Mercedes has a Intake Line Assembly Extended Emissions Warranty (Code P052E) up to 150,000 miles. Theyโve admitted this was a problem with this engine but only covers 3 other vehicles with the identical platform, & excluded the Mercedes Metris
The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris. The contact received a notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V482000 (Tires); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted; however, the recall repairs were denied, and the contact was asked to take the vehicle back to the original dealer who sold the vehicle. The contact reached out to several other local dealers; however, the assistance was provided due to the vehicle having approximately 18inch rims. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, but no assistance was provided. The contact hadโฆ
Fuel smell in the engine compartment and visible leaking fuel on the lower hoses per NHTSA Campaign Number 18V837000. I previously complained about this in April 2025 (ID 11669847). Dealer inspected in April 2025 and replaced the lower hose, but I still would smell fuel. After a lot of my own troubleshooting over the last six months, I have determined that when the car has sat un-used for over 24 hours, the rubber fuel lines shrink just enough that the next time the fuel system is primed (pre-start routine when you unlock the car, or start the car), a small amount of fuel leaks out at theโฆ
How does the digital display suddenly disappear from your dashboard? Mercedes has lost its respect for being a High Quality brand. Too many recalls,. Too many issues that vehicles less costly never have such as 1. Out of alignment at 0 mileage resulting in worn out tires at 12k miles. Realignment that was useless at mb specs resulting in third set of tires. 2. Pcv regulator valve triggers engine code p052e which means a $3000 repair bill that's not covered on commercial vans but covered on passenger vans with the same engine. 3. It has been two years after posting an issue with engine light on indicating the error code p052e which is a known problem on many models mercedes has. This metris van is not a passenger van but a commercial van. It has however the SAME engine and SAME error code as all the models mercedes having this engine. It is stated that it is under warranty by mercedes up to 150k, with the exception of the commercial van. This is ludicrous and a failure to correct a known defect and expecting the customer to pay the bill. It is also disturbing that the NHTSA does not communicate to the complaint orโฆ

Counts are a starting point, not a verdict: popular models collect more complaints because more of them are on the road, and NHTSA does not verify individual reports. To see whether a recall is still open on your car, enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls (U.S.) or your registration at check-vehicle-recalls.service.gov.uk (UK). Had a safety problem? Report it to NHTSA; complaints are what trigger investigations and recalls.
