Engine And Engine Cooling: Engine BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2018 BMW 540d xDrive vehicles. The crankshaft sensor may be equipped with incorrect firmware, preventing the sensor from properly processing input from the crankshaft reluctor ring, possibly resulting in a vehicle stall. The contact owns a 2019 Mini Clubman. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "Left Brake Light Malfunction" was displayed. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 66,000.
Manual transmission had an issue with 2nd gear not fully engaging and popping out under light acceleration. Transmission was replaced under warranty in December 2022. In April of 2024 the same issue occurred again where 2nd gear would not stay in gear after 18 months of having transmission replaced. The replaced transmission is no longer under warranty. This indicates a part defect of their 6-speed manual transmissions.
January 28, 2024 I had a car accident and the air bags on my left side never deployed.
