When putting vehicle in reverse, camera can become stuck or not load at all impacting rear visibility. This was previously recalled and Volvo claims a remedy through software update but I believe this is processor based and they will need to replace the units with their snapdragon processor to rectify this. Their newer models include the snapdragon processor and don’t have this issue.

Electrical, Parking Collision Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Warning. Electrical is the root cause........the entire audio subsystem drops after the AAOS 5.1.17 update. It’s not just the rear cross traffic and parking collision warnings: ALL audio goes, including media, chimes, reverse proximity tones, and even the turn-signal/blinker sound. The rear camera still shows an image, so it’s not obvious the audible alerts are gone, which is what makes it dangerous. Rebooting the head unit fixes it temporarily, then it comes back.

I am submitting a formal vehicle safety complaint regarding a sudden and complete system failure in my Volvo S60 2023, which occurred in March 2026 in [XXX] . While traveling on [XXX] at highway speed, the vehicle abruptly and without warning lost all electrical power. The dashboard went completely blank, and all electronic systems ceased functioning. Critically, the steering became unresponsive/locked at the same time, creating an immediate and severe safety hazard. I was at a stoplight with my foot on the brake. The car lurched forward, which prompted me to push harder on the brake. Then, with my foot firmly on the brake, the car accelerated into the car in front of me. There was body damage to the car. Volvo investigated and said that the computer indicated that the gas pedal was engaged at 90% while the brake was engaged at the same time. This would involve me putting my foot on the gas and brake at the same time, which simply is not what happened. There is clearly something wrong with their computer system. The same problem was identified in the XC40…

When my son got a car last December, we bought him a 2024 Volvo s60, primarily for the safety features. Since we have had the vehicle, Volvo has had a lot of issues with their infotainment system. He has contacted them many times and I had started to keep a record of how often it would glitch. If it was just music not working, no big deal. But sometimes it was the backup camera too and once the heat. He recently had a car accident. He is okay (of course shaken up) but it was a bad situation. A van had dropped a lot of items. Plumbing and metal shelving. There was a pick up who was trying to…

When slowing to a stop the vehicle is unsmooth and unpredictable, there is also a sudden release when braking downhill (not sure if they are related). There’s been occasions where the car lurched when coming to a stop almost resulting in me rear ending the vehicle in front of me. The unsmooth/unpredictable stopping only happens at speeds under 10mph when approaching a stop like with city driving. I’ve had it to the dealership two times for this. They’ve had trouble reproducing it, but acknowledged it is unsmooth and said that’s just the way the regenerative braking was designed. The holding…

Automatic Intervention Collision Avoidance system activated unnecessarily and unexpectedly during a freeway exit. There were no cars ahead within a reasonable distance, but there was a car in the adjacent lane of a “dual” parallel exit lane on the freeway. There was a solid white line between vehicles and the system seemed to interpret both vehicles exiting the freeway simultaneously as a “near collision” when in fact we were both operating correctly. I did not notice any intrusion or movement of the adjacent vehicle into our lane. The response from the vehicle was a sudden and violent…

I was driving in the right hand lane on a two lane road where the speed limit is 30mph. While the road was curving to the left slightly the vehicle's Collision Avoidance System was triggered and swerved the car into the left lane towards on coming traffic and cutting off a car behind me. The road was completely empty in front of me. It created a dangerous situation for no reason. I have dashcam footage that captured the moment the car intervened that I can provide if requested, I'm unable to upload video on this portal.
