Beginning around September 2025, my vehicle started experiencing intermittent ABS and Electronic Braking System warning lights while driving. The warnings occur randomly during vehicle operation and not only at startup. I have contacted and visited my Ram dealership multiple times regarding both the recall and the active warning lights. The dealership advised that recall parts were not available and did not…

The ABS/brake warning lights illuminated on my 2017 Ram 1500. I have not noticed a difference in normal braking performance. Diagnostic testing identified codes C2200-49 related to an internal ABS module electronic failure and C0020-01, ABS pump motor control/general electrical failure. I was advised that the ABS module and/or hydraulic control unit may require replacement. I am concerned that the ABS system may not function properly when needed. I am also aware that certain 2017-2018 Ram 2500 and other heavy-duty Ram models have been recalled under NHTSA Campaign 24V-896 for HCU failure resulting in loss of ABS, stability control and traction control. I have found reports of similar ABS…

I am in Virginia and received a recall code C0020-01 for general abs fault. The truck continues to beep alerting me of this fact. I need replacement of the hcu. Which i have been told controls the breaking hydraulics. To me this seems to be of concern and could easily cause an accident and injury. This has been occurring since August of 2025 and I have been in contact with the dealership, Blackwell of Danville, VA, since then. On 11/1/25 I went into the dealership for other issues but this problem as well. They told me there is no part available for replacement and hasn't been for over a year. Well we are in a new year so how much longer do I need to wait for my truck to be safe?

Service abs/ service electronic brake system/ traction control alarm flashing on/off intermittently with no specific times or conditions. This first happened in may 2024 on a 6 hour road trip. Occasionally I can take it on a short trip and it may not flash the message during that trip and at other times it is constantly going on and off. I have not had this looked at by the dealer. I have read the codes using my personal scanner and it shows C0020-01 (Active) ABS Pump Motor Control- General Electrical Failure. I do not drive this vehicle daily and I can not relate it to wear and tear because the vehicle only has 23,900 miles on it.

While driving on the highway at 70 MPH on cruise control the ABS and Traction Control lights came on and the cruise control stopped working. There was a warning message to have the ABS system serviced. This happened again two days later. The lights did not come on after restarting the truck. I took it into the dealer and the codes were C0020-1C and C0020-16. The shop said the ABS pump and ABS control module need to be replaced. The control module has been out of stock for 3 years according to the parts department. Reconditioning is an option but the chip to fix the module is no longer available. This one dealer has close to 20 trucks waiting for this part. The 2017 and 2018 Ram 2500, 3500…

I bought it used at a dealership in Maryland in June 2022 and each time I check with them, the part to fix it is backordered or not available. According to a Star online publication dated 4/28/20 from FCA, when this code is on the HCU and the ECU should be tested and replaced, but the abs module is on parts restriction. Also, NHTSA ODI (NEF-102ig PE22-012) sent a letter to Head, vehicle safety compliance FCA, on January 23, 2023, notifying them that NHTSA had opened a Preliminary Evaluation to investigate allegations of intermittent or permanent loss of braking performance in my truck type and year. Vehicle began experiencing electrical issues upon ABS/HCU unit failure. While initially intermittent, which allowed continued usage of the vehicle, additional components such as cruise control, trailer braking, etc., began to malfunction. Warning lights would toggle on and off, and truck began to have no-start problems with C0020 ABS codes and UO140 codes being thrown. How this page was made

CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of C0020 (including sub-code forms such as C002001). Manufacturer codes have no public standard definition, so CarHooq shows only what owners reported. Nothing here is a diagnosis. Data: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation (public domain), retrieved November 3, 2026. How CarHooq reports are made.
