I am filing this complaint regarding the repair of Recall 25S89 / NHTSA Recall 25V572 on my 2017 Ford Expedition EL 4WD (VIN: [XXX]). I received Ford's recall notice in April 2026 and brought my vehicle to the dealership on June 8, 2026. Before the repair, the rearview camera functioned intermittently. The dealership diagnosed the vehicle and informed me that the wiring tested properly, voltage was present, and the recall applied because the rearview camera had failed inspection. They determined the camera required replacement under the recall and ordered the replacement part. I returned on XXX, for the recall repair. After installing the replacement camera, the dealership informed me that…

This is for recall 25s89/ NHTSA 25V572. Took my car to the dealer and they confirmed and found C1001:01. They refused service and blamed a faulty wire harness. They stated fixed points which indicates tampering or previous repair which I am the original owner and have never had electrical work done on the vehicle. They are trying to charge me $1700 for a wire harness and refusing to do the safety recall

VEHICLE'S BACK UP CAMERA WAS ONLY WORKING INTERMITTENTLY, THEN STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. ERROR CODE (PER DEALERSHIP, C1001 I THINK BUT MAY BE INCORRECT CODE) INDICATES A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING THAT CONNECTS THE CAMERA TO THE CENTER CONSOLE.

Receiving Front Camera Malfunction Service required warning. Also receiving pre-collision assist, adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency break system warnings. Other systems likely disabled. Found that there was a TSB issued for the same year but on the F-150. DTC's C1001:31, U3000:89, U3000:49. This issue is likely caused by faulty cable connections where condensation has caused corrosion making the system inoperable thus creating a major safety issue for owners. I took the Expedition to SawGrass Ford in Sunrise FL and they confirmed that the issue was due to the electronics/cables. The camera itself was not dirty or blocked. They charged me $250 for a diagnostic and then wanted to…

Write down when the code appeared and what the car did (warning lights, loss of power, noises, speed, weather). Check your VIN for open recalls at nhtsa.gov/recalls, ask a dealer or independent workshop to read the stored freeze-frame data before anyone clears the code, and keep the repair order. If the car loses power in traffic, stop driving it. CarHooq does not diagnose: these are owner reports and official recall notices, not repair advice.

How this page was made

CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of C1001. Manufacturer codes have no public standard definition, so CarHooq shows only what owners reported. Nothing here is a diagnosis.
