The ABS, brake, and traction-control warning lights on my 2018 Ram 1500 Rebel first appeared in June 2026 and are currently illuminated. During abrupt braking, the rear of the truck can slide sideways, making it difficult to maintain control. In June 2026, I was traveling approximately 50 mph when another vehicle pulled out in front of me. I applied the brakes, and my truck slid sideways off the roadway before stopping in the grass. There was no impact, visible damage, or injury, and no police report was filed. The exact incident date is unknown. The vehicle had approximately 130,000 miles at the time, based on an estimate of my regular driving mileage. The braking problem continues. I leave…
The ABS warning light remains illuminated and the vehicle is displaying diagnostic trouble code C2200, indicating an internal failure involving the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) control module. I am concerned that this is a safety-related defect rather than normal wear. I have found multiple reports from other owners of 2017 Jeep Wranglers describing the same or substantially similar failure involving C2200, ABS module failure, and illumination of the ABS/traction-control warning lights. Owners have also reported difficulty obtaining replacement OEM ABS modules due to extended backorders or lack of availability. Because the ABS module is part of the vehicle’s braking and electronic…
Im getting the same code (c2200) that has been recalled on other cars with my same year make and model of vehicle but yet my vehicle is not recalled and I have to pay out of pocket after spending thousands to keep this pos going already im done putting money into this peice of junk if this is how you treat your customers they should all be recalled because they all have the same issue not just the ones you pick and choose this is ridiculous if I didnt still owe so much on it I would have already traded it in for something not dodge related im done getting dodges after this they are all junk
I have a 2018 Ram 2500 with 35,500 miles, [XXX] . there is a well-known issue regarding the anti-Lock Braking Systems which effects 2017 and 2018 models which, Stellantis -RAM refuses to address. My truck suffers from this issue, the ABS and traction control warning lights constantly flicker on and off and there is an audible ding when this occurs. My local dealer diagnosed the problem, and the truck needs to have the HCU and ABS modules replaced. The cost to perform this work is nearly $2,000 since the parts are expensive and there is a fair amount of programming which needs to occur. Codes from ABS scanner: Ram ABS C2200-49(1/2) Stored Anti-lock Brake Module Internal - Internal Electronic…
A few weeks ago I was traveling on unfamiliar curvy roads. It had recently rained. I fishtailed going through the curve, and my breaks locked up. Not long after I had the famous “Christmas Tree Lights” on my dash which are the ABS, Break, and FCW. Went to Advance Auto Parts to check code, and it was C2200-49. Took to dealership and paid $200+ to learn the same. They quoted $1955 alone for the ABS Control Module because the part was discontinued by Mopar in 2025. Took to an independent shop for a recheck, and they confirmed they could not fix it because they couldn’t guarantee an added part would work since they were discontinued. I haven’t driven the vehicle for a month, and I’m wary of…
ABS/TRACTION CONTROL light comes on and goes off at random times while driving. Sometimes when I hit a bump, other times just going down a smooth street or even sitting at a stop light or just sitting at idle in a parking lot. When the lights are on I do not have use of cruise control, traction Control or ABS. I had the code read. It shows c2200-49 ABS internal electronic failure C0020-01 ABS pump motor control - general electrical failure. This has been a problem for about 2 years, and started around 85k miles. Sometimes it happens 30-40x in a 30min drive, other times I'll go weeks with the system working properly, then It starts acting up again. I just recently heard they were…
2014 Ram 1500 5.7L, approximately 90,000 miles. Around October 2025, the ABS warning light, BRAKE warning light, and traction control light illuminated on the dash. Diagnosis shows ABS control module internal electronic failure (fault code C2200, lost communication with ABS module). This failure disables the anti-lock braking system, electronic stability/traction control, trailer brake controller, and cruise control. Failure was intermittent at first, occurring more often in warm weather, and has now become permanent. The vehicle cannot be repaired: replacement module Mopar part 68228991AD is discontinued and on national backorder, with dealers reporting the part has been under manufacturer…
My 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has an intermittent ABS system failure. The ABS, red BRAKE, and traction-control warning lights illuminate while driving. A diagnostic scan returned active code C2200, indicating an internal anti-lock brake module fault. The original ABS module is Mopar part number P04779788AF. I inspected and cleaned the electrical connector and checked the wheel-speed readings, which appeared normal. The C2200 code returned active after these checks. When this fault occurs, the ABS and traction-control systems may be disabled, potentially reducing braking stability and vehicle control during emergency braking or slippery road conditions. I have also found reports from other…
Abs, brake, and traction light coming on coded c2200-49 told there was a recall and when I called the dealership they said it wasn't for my vehicle but they couldn't even order the part because they're having to replace them on so many and they are not in stock anywhere until after April 15th. If this has been an issue with other vehicles and is currently an issue with mine why is it not under the recall??? 2012 Dodge Journey sxt
ABS and Traction Control lights and associated chime intermittently (but relentlessly) turn on/off/on. This happened while towing a trailer in mountains and disabled my ABS, traction control and cruise control. This 2018 Ram 2500 4x4 has only 17,100 miles. The codes C2200 and C0020 that it shows, according to Ram, require an ABS module and hydraulic control unit. The latter is unavailable and even if it was, is known to fail again regularly within a couple of years. This is a HUGE safety issue we need help fixing.
C2200: questions drivers ask
What does code C2200 mean?
C2200 is a manufacturer-specific chassis code (chassis: brakes, ABS, stability control, steering and suspension), so its exact definition depends on the carmaker and is not in the generic OBD-II list. 130 owners reported it to NHTSA, most often for the Ram 1500 (63), Jeep Wrangler (55), Dodge Journey (7); their reports describe what happened.
Which cars get code C2200 most often?
In NHTSA owner complaints, C2200 is mentioned most for the Ram 1500 (63), Jeep Wrangler (55), Dodge Journey (7), across 6 models and model years 2012 to 2019. Popular models collect more reports because more of them are on the road.
Is there a recall for code C2200?
No NHTSA recall text names C2200 directly. 4 recalls on the cars that report this code concern the same component owners name most (Service Brakes); they may or may not relate to the code. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
What should I do if my car shows C2200?
Write down when the code appeared and what the car did (warning lights, loss of power, noises, speed, weather). Check your VIN for open recalls at nhtsa.gov/recalls, ask a dealer or independent workshop to read the stored freeze-frame data before anyone clears the code, and keep the repair order. If the car loses power in traffic, stop driving it. CarHooq does not diagnose: these are owner reports and official recall notices, not repair advice.
How this page was made
CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of C2200. Manufacturer codes have no public standard definition, so CarHooq shows only what owners reported. Nothing here is a diagnosis.
