On 7 Aug 2022, I lost cruise control, Navigation function (GPS0 and had problems with other elecrical functions on instrument cluster. I took truck to my local ford dealer; they rand Ford diagnostics on truck and it had 3 module errors listed. They cleared the codes and tried to get me to accept the vehicle. Road tested it and there efforts of clearing the codes did not fix any thing. Brought back in shop on 10 Aug 2022. Diagnostics ran again now narrowed it down to APIM failing 3 times in 2 days. Now deallership says they have to order part from California if they have them in stock. This truck only has 22,000 miles on it. Has had multiple failures of equipment for fuel system listing codes…

I experienced an unexpected Loss of Motive Power (LOMP) event. Late afternoon traffic was fast, estimate 75-80 MPH. I attempted to change lanes get to the righthand shoulder and was very nearly involved in a high-speed collision with a semi-petroleum tank truck. He applied his brakes to avoid hitting me and started to jackknife, but regained control and continued. The truck missed by inches. At this point I had NO remaining power and was essentially coasting until I managed to cross the remaining two lanes of traffic to the shoulder emergency lane. I reset the error codes and continued home with no further occurrences. The incident produced the following warning lamps: Electronic Throttle…

While driving at approximately 65 mph on the I-405 freeway in Irvine, CA during rainy conditions, my 2019 Mercedes-Benz C300 suddenly and completely lost acceleration without warning. At the same moment, a Check Engine Light illuminated on the dash. I was forced to coast across all lanes and stop in the emergency shoulder in a very unsafe area with high-speed traffic passing close by in low visibility rainy conditions. Multiple vehicles nearly struck us, including one that had to emergency brake directly behind my car in the shoulder. I contacted AAA and the vehicle had to be towed because it was not safe or driveable. My girlfriend was also in the car and both of us experienced significant…

Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor failure (P0191) This issue generated a check engine light and limp home mode to be initiated. I have had the part changed and when it was changed the previous part had a manufacturing date of 2025. After replacing with new certified part the issue happened again less than a month later. I have researched and found out that Mercedes has issued a Campaign (L107.70-P-078047) for this issue but they are saying my VIN does not have a recall or campaign attached to it. My vehicle is presenting with the exact issues this campaign states and the same P0191 code that is mentioned in the campaign. My Bosch CP4 fuel pump failed causing my engine to stall while turning at a very busy/fast intersection. This can occur at speed without any warning of sudden failure, putting everyone on the road at risk. Fault code P0087 and P0191 were present, along with a flashing glow plug. Following EA No.: EA11-003 I removed the fuel metering valve and observed and documented metal shavings. The failed component is still installed on my vehicle as I will be having it serviced shortly. The fact that this same component has been recalled very recently in many domestic trucks, but not in the 600,000 VW/Audi vehicles it is installed in is concerning. P0191: questions drivers ask

What does code P0191 mean?

P0191 is a generic OBD-II powertrain code. Its standard definition is "Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance". The code tells you which system set the fault, not which part failed; the owner reports on this page show what it meant in practice for 9 car models.

Which cars get code P0191 most often?

In NHTSA owner complaints, P0191 is mentioned most for the Chevrolet Equinox (3), Ford F-350 (3), Alfa Romeo Stelvio (1), across 9 models and model years 2013 to 2023. Popular models collect more reports because more of them are on the road.

Is there a recall for code P0191?

No NHTSA recall text names P0191 directly. 1 recall on the cars that report this code concerns the same component owners name most (Engine); they may or may not relate to the code. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

What should I do if my car shows P0191?

Write down when the code appeared and what the car did (warning lights, loss of power, noises, speed, weather). Check your VIN for open recalls at nhtsa.gov/recalls, ask a dealer or independent workshop to read the stored freeze-frame data before anyone clears the code, and keep the repair order. If the car loses power in traffic, stop driving it. CarHooq does not diagnose: these are owner reports and official recall notices, not repair advice.

How this page was made

CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of P0191 (including sub-code forms such as P019185). The definition is the generic SAE J2012 wording; a carmaker may use the code slightly differently. Nothing here is a diagnosis. Data: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation (public domain), retrieved November 3, 2026. How CarHooq reports are made.
