Check engine light for P052E which has been coming and going off for years now. Now the check engine light is there permanently. I spoke to Mercedes Benz customer service and requested for them to fix the problem now that the light is on permanently but they refuse to fix it because the car has 222,000 miles on it. This should be a recall from the manufacturer not an extended warranty coverage. The Mercedes dealer in Valencia California told me they now only do a software update and put a plug cap on the sensor and want to charge me $850 even though this should be a recall
Error code P052E71 on a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC means the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Regulator Valve Performance has a malfunction, specifically that the partial-load ventilation valve actuator is blocked. By research, i found that this is a very common problem on those engines, and no recalls from the company to fix their fault.
The check engine light on the vehicle came on and remained on each time the vehicle is running. An independent service center in an effort to fix the problem, ran a diagnostic test and found that the check engine light is on due to two codes. (1) P052E-71 crankcase ventilation system has a malfunction (PCV has failed, needs tube assembly). (2) P06DA-00 oil pump solenoid circuit failure. Additionally, the independent service center found a Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC News Channel Update Warranty to Mercedes-Benz Dealer Principals, General Managers, Sales Managers, Service Managers, Parts Managers dated August 25, 2023 regarding Emission Extended Warranty - Intake Line Assembly. Specifically, the…
My 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 (VIN: [XXX]) has a check engine light for code P052E, which points to a broken crankcase ventilation valve. My car has only 59,000 miles on it, but this same exact part already broke once before and was replaced under the original warranty. Now, the replacement part has failed too. This proves the part is defective and keeps breaking. Mercedes-Benz already knows this part is defective. They gave a free 15-year or 150,000-mile extended warranty to fix this exact issue for free on the C-Class and other longitudinal M274 engine platforms. However, they are actively denying coverage for my CLA 250's M270 engine variant, despite the two vehicles sharing nearly…
The check engine light came on and the code reads PO52e. Mercedes has a Intake Line Assembly Extended Emissions Warranty (Code P052E) up to 150,000 miles. They’ve admitted this was a problem with this engine but only covers 3 other vehicles with the identical platform, & excluded the Mercedes Metris
Check Engine Light, running fault code P052E71 - needs software update for N3/10 Engine control unit.
My 2021 Mercedes-Benz A220 (M260 2.0L engine) triggered diagnostic fault code P052E, indicating a failure of the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) regulator valve / intake line assembly. Failure of this valve disrupts crankcase pressure, causing unmetered air intake, lean-running conditions, and engine hesitation/stalling risks. Mercedes-Benz issued a 15-year/150,000-mile extended warranty campaign for this exact PCV failure on M274 engines, but has excluded M260 engines despite identical failure modes. The manufacturer has not remedied this known design defect, creating potential drivability and engine pressure hazards.
Check engine light comes on, Error Code P052E, after a lot of research, this is a known defective part by Benz. Huge safety issue not addressed by them. Very costly to fix for a customer. There is a new and improved replacement part from Benz indicating they are aware of the faulty old parts that are currently in those cars but yet they have failed to do a recall.
I have P052E71 error code. It’s a crankcase ventilation malfunction. Seems to be a common issue reported widely online on various forums. Mercedes should place a recall on this. The car has 55k miles on it.

If the car loses power in traffic, stop driving it. CarHooq does not diagnose: these are owner reports and official recall notices, not repair advice.
How this page was made
CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of P052E (including sub-code forms such as P052E71). Manufacturer codes have no public standard definition, so CarHooq shows only what owners reported. Nothing here is a diagnosis. Data: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation (public domain), retrieved November 3, 2026. How CarHooq reports are made.
