Since I purchased this truck in 2023 brand new as a 2024 the shifting has been very abrasive. It shifts far excessively harder than it should and I have brought this to the dealership’s attention many times. Now I am finding out that there is a massive recall on this vehicle’s transmission because of these issues that have been happening. The error codes are P0700 and P0747 The Engine and Transmission System is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the Transmission System that transfers power from the engine to the drive wheels. You may experience reduced power or shifting issues. If the vehicle is continually driven with the check engine light on, the emission controls…

- started shutting shutting off at while in drive. - started having reduced power - started idiling high while driving - initially there was no codes - last night I drove, I put in drive gear but it was delayed so I had to keep moving from park to drive for it to full go into drive - the codes came P0325 P0505 P0507 P0700 P1101 P2714 After I was driving up an incline the car stopped moving forward and started reversing backwards. One other independent shop advised they were able to produce but couldn’t figure out the problem because no code were shown at the time. There has been many people having the same issues I started off with and I found the forum to file a report .

As I was driving on the Highway. My speed was approximately 65 MPH. The suburban slowed itself down and flashed on the driver screen "slow down/reduced acceleration". I was driving with my family in the car on the highway. The car forcing a slow down like that could have caused an accident that could have killed my 3 year old or my 9 year old. We drove the car home in fear after reading online that the rear tires could force stop on us. We immediately did an at home diagnostic on the vehicle and were given the following codes: P0700, P0747. We have taken the vehicle to the nearest Chevrolet Dealership and had it diagnosed. We were called today and told that the valve body needs replacement…

My car on the dash board said do not accelerate and was shaking and the gear would not go into reverse. When I tried the car would not move. I towed the car to local Chevy dealer and when I told them about N242454441 or related safety campaigns like N242454440 nothing came up for my VIN but was informed GM had this program specifically for my code ( check engine light on) reading P0776 and P0700. This was not covered.

For months we have had issues with the known issue of “Shift to Park” which is a huge potential safety risk to myself, my children, and all of my neighbors who are ever remotely close to the vehicle. No dealer can resolve the known issue for this year/make/model. It has slipped from park to drive once but thankfully I was still in the vehicle. Additionally, at barely 100,000, my transmission has failed suddenly. After having the vehicle suddenly buck when driving down the road— again risking the safety of myself and my children, as well as other drivers around me- the check engine light came on. After being inspected, the codes coming up are P0700, P2723, and some other transmission related…

The vehicle drove normally earlier in the day with no major drivability concerns. Later, reverse gear suddenly stopped functioning and the engine would rev abnormally without the vehicle moving properly while in reverse. Shortly afterward, while driving, the vehicle displayed the warning message “Reduce Acceleration – Drive with Care” and began losing acceleration and propulsion. The vehicle would not accelerate normally and later could not exceed approximately 20-35 MPH. The condition created a significant safety concern due to sudden loss of acceleration and propulsion while operating in traffic. The engine RPM would increase abnormally while the vehicle failed to respond properly in drive…

When I first purchase the brand new 2022 chevy Camaro LS, the car drove smooth. A. Few weeks later I notice the car did not smoothly shift into gear. From gear 1 to 2 the shift was delayed before kicking in. I have taken the car twice to chevy dealership because the car is still under warranty but because the technicians were unable to detect the issue ( no light on dashboard, no codes detected for service) they were unable to recreate/detect the issue I was and still currently experiencing. 2025, the check engine light came on the a code was detected from the system. Check engine light with codes p0700 and p2796 has been happening for months with multiple failed repair attempts. Vehicle was returned to me by the dealer supposedly fixed. I drove it 15 minutes to the high school for an art fair my daughter was in. They (my family) rode with me home. Check engine light was on again. On the way home, the transmission was acting strange, not shifting properly. About half way home, it got stuck in a gear at 3500 or so rpms and would not shift. I tried the manual shifter, and it didn’t work. Stuck in gear. Concern was that we were approaching a hill when it did this, and I could not get the vehicle to shift to deliver the appropriate level of power I needed to…

P0700: questions drivers ask

What does code P0700 mean?

P0700 is a generic OBD-II powertrain code. Its standard definition is "Transmission Control System (MIL Request)". The code tells you which system set the fault, not which part failed; the owner reports on this page show what it meant in practice for 26 car models.

Which cars get code P0700 most often?

In NHTSA owner complaints, P0700 is mentioned most for the Chevrolet Silverado (35), GMC Sierra (20), Chevrolet Malibu (7), across 26 models and model years 2012 to 2025. Popular models collect more reports because more of them are on the road.

Is there a recall for code P0700?

No NHTSA recall text names P0700 directly. 8 recalls on the cars that report this code concern the same component owners name most (Power Train); they may or may not relate to the code. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

What should I do if my car shows P0700?

Write down when the code appeared and what the car did (warning lights, loss of power, noises, speed, weather). Check your VIN for open recalls at nhtsa.gov/recalls, ask a dealer or independent workshop to read the stored freeze-frame data before anyone clears the code, and keep the repair order. If the car loses power in traffic, stop driving it. CarHooq does not diagnose: these are owner reports and official recall notices, not repair advice.

How this page was made

CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of P0700. The definition is the generic SAE J2012 wording; a carmaker may use the code slightly differently. Nothing here is a diagnosis. Data: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation (public domain), retrieved November 3, 2026. How CarHooq reports are made.
