SUPPLEMENTAL DEFECT REPORT ATTACHMENT Original NHTSA Complaint ID: [Case#11770807]/[Case #11772091] Vehicle suffered an identical uncommanded rear-wheel lockup and immediate drop to a low gear at highway speeds in October 2025. Kendall Ford replaced a Gateway Module rather than the transmission molded leadframe. The vehicle is now displaying active codes P0715 and P0717, which Ford Corporate is using to deny coverage under Recall 26S28. Ford is actively excluding P0715/P0717 input sensor codes from the recall, despite the component being physically identical and resulting in the exact same violent highway lockup hazard.

My 2016 Expedition has the same 6R80 transmission as the Ford F150, for which there is a recall for the Lead Frame. My wife was driving the vehicle on the highway and the check engine light came on and the vehicle went into "limp mode" causing the vehicle to decelerate to approximately 35 mph. Needless to say, she almost caused several accidents as she tried to move to the shoulder at a very reduced speed. The code was P0715 and P0717 which is the Turbine Shaft Speed Sensor which is part of the lead frame in the transmission. As stated before, there was a recall on this issue with the F150 but not to the Expedition since Ford did not sell as many Expeditions as F150's? I was able to have the…

Drove car out of driveway, after driving approximately 150-200 feet the dashboard wrench icon ( powertrain problem ) illuminated and car went into limp mode. Read MIL codes, had codes P0715, Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction and P0717, Input/Turbine Speed Sensor No Signal. Traced wiring problem to connector in front of drivers side shock tower. This connector is the connector between the PCM and and the transmission. The connector was causing an open on the conductors, causing the lack of TSS signal. There were no symptoms or intermittent problems prior to this - it happened suddenly. Had been on an interstate hiway the day prior to this, am glad this ( going into limp mode )…

My 2018 Ford Transit 250 experienced a failure of the Input/Turbine Speed Sensor in the 6R80 transmission’s mechatronic lead frame at approximately 60,000 miles. The failure was confirmed by an authorized Ford service department, which retrieved DTC codes P0715-00 and P0717-00. These codes indicate that the turbine speed sensor signal is lost, forcing the transmission into limp mode, causing loss of power and erratic shifting. This is a serious safety concern, it can occur suddenly while driving and results in loss of proper gear control. Relation to Recall 19S07 Ford has already acknowledged this same defect in other vehicles using the 6R80 transmission. In Safety Recall 19S07, Ford…

Erratic shifting, sudden down shifts while at highway speed, and transmission suddenly stuck in 3 or 5th gear, ford currently has customer satisfaction program 26n04 covering certain 2015-2017 ford f150 trucks but specifies only certain codes to flag the need to fix the problem by changing the molded lead frame which is the defective part. Unfortunately my truck is not tripping those codes but it is showing codes p0715,p0717,p0720 that all call for the molded lead frame to be changed. The problem is codes, p0720,0722, where covered in previous recall 24S37, for f150 tucks made in 2014 with the exact same transmission and molded lead frame. So my problem is why in the previous recall where…

Ford mailed me a XXX Customer Satisfaction Program 26N04 letter for my 2016 F-150, VIN [XXX]. That letter offered a one-time, no-charge replacement of the transmission molded lead frame if the dealer determined replacement was needed, and it described a malfunction indicator lamp and/or wrench light when that part fails. My truck did exactly that. It stored P0715 and P0717, went into limp mode, and the wrench came on. Titus-Will Ford in Tacoma confirmed the turbine speed sensor is part of the lead frame and replaced it (part AL3Z-7G276-D). They denied 26N04 because those codes are not P0705, P0706, P0707, or P1702 — a code list the customer letter never disclosed. The failed part is the part…

Vehicle transmission downshift to a lower gear while traveling at city and highway speeds without any prior warning or driver input. Diagnostic showed codes P0715 and P0717. The following day we received notification from Ford of the recall "Transmission molded leadframe replacement" (Campaign 26N04)" - which was investigated by NHTSA as part of Part 573 Safety Recall Report 26V237. When we spoke to our local dealership in [XXX] they felt it was the same issues as the recall describes. However, when we submitted the vehicle for repairs, they reported that these specific diagnostic codes (P0715 and P0717) are NOT considered part of the recall and are therefore NOT covered by the recall. But…

While driving, the transmission sticks or will not shift. A wrench flashes and has only produced a check engine light one time. Code P0715 - Irregular signal coming from the input/turbine speed sensor in transmission. If it does shift, it is hard and jerks the vehicle. This has only happened a few times while driving but I found a Ford TSB for earlier models (2011-2013) having the same issue.

The powertrain warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where DTC: P0705, P0706, P0707, and P1702 were retrieved, indicating a powertrain control module (PCM) and leadframe failure. The vehicle was not repaired because the warranty had expired the day prior. P0715: questions drivers ask

What does code P0715 mean?

P0715 is a generic OBD-II powertrain code. Its standard definition is "Input/Turbine Speed Sensor 'A' Circuit". The code tells you which system set the fault, not which part failed; the owner reports on this page show what it meant in practice for 4 car models.

Which cars get code P0715 most often?

In NHTSA owner complaints, P0715 is mentioned most for the Ford F-150 (8), Ford Expedition (1), Ford Fusion (1), across 4 models and model years 2012 to 2018. Popular models collect more reports because more of them are on the road.

Is there a recall for code P0715?

No NHTSA recall text names P0715 directly. 5 recalls on the cars that report this code concern the same component owners name most (Power Train); they may or may not relate to the code. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

What should I do if my car shows P0715?

Write down when the code appeared and what the car did (warning lights, loss of power, noises, speed, weather). Check your VIN for open recalls at nhtsa.gov/recalls, ask a dealer or independent workshop to read the stored freeze-frame data before anyone clears the code, and keep the repair order. If the car loses power in traffic, stop driving it. CarHooq does not diagnose: these are owner reports and official recall notices, not repair advice.

How this page was made

CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of P0715. The definition is the generic SAE J2012 wording; a carmaker may use the code slightly differently. Nothing here is a diagnosis.
