Transmission has been problematic for the past two years. We have had it checked twice but nothing can be found during the inspection. It shifts very roughly by jolting you forward when you are accelerating from a slow speed or at times when you are coasting as well with no foot on gas or break. You feel jolted as if you were rear ended by another vehicle. I was driving with my family, to include 3 young kids, on interstate I95 on 8/19/23 when the vehicle suddenly jolted 3 times and then the check engine light came on. I was not able to pull over right away, and when I tried to press the gas the engine revved high but the vehicle barely moved. After putting my hazard lights on I was…
2018 Ford F-150 5.0L with 10R80 10-speed transmission, approximately 86,000 miles. The transmission began exhibiting abnormal shifting, including missed shifts and loss of propulsion. On multiple occasions while traveling approximately 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power/propulsion. During these events, the gear indicator changed from 10th to 1st and engine RPM appeared to increase. I do not believe the transmission physically engaged 1st gear; the actual gear engaged is UNKNOWN. The unexpected loss of propulsion at highway speed created a safety concern because the vehicle would not respond normally to accelerator input while traveling with traffic. The transmission also malfunctioned…
Has to replace the Fan Assembly Coolant sensor three years in a row beginning in 2022, 2023, and 2024. 2023 January, also has the Right Side CV Axcle replaced because a/c coolant was leaking. This leaking went in to the transmission and the transmission also had to be rebuild. Then in 2024 of May the transmission fault service light came on again after being rebuild in January 2023. Took it back to AAMCO and was provided the following codes as errors: P0087- Fuel/Rail system pressure; P0217 engine coolant over temperature; P0219 Engine over speed condition, P0732 gear 2 incorrect ratio, P0733 gear 3, 4, 4 all incorrect ratio. They stated my transmission needed to be rebuilt again and was out…
On 7/22/23 we were driving out to a trail head in the Grand Staircase-Escalante on a dirt/gravel road over a washboard at the time of failure. We were about 2-3 miles in on a 14 mile journey. It was 111 degrees and we were possibly going to have no cell service soon. Suddenly the 4WD system Temporary unavailable appears on the screen. Then I was able to push the 2wd button and it made a very load clunking sound. I was able to turn the truck around and barely got the truck up to 45 mph back to where we were staying. When we came to a stop the truck would rev and barley move. The check engine light came on with P0732-00 and P0731-00. It had failure to the transmission to the K1 Clutch Snap…
My transmission feels as if it is skipping. It feels as if the truck is going to stop while driving. Making it very dangerous and unsafe for my children and myself. The two codes that a scanner gave were P0732:00-6D and P07F7:00-6D. Please help with this. My truck is not even that old nor is high on mileage. Thank you.

TRAVELING ON I-5 IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC 0- 60 MPH WHEN TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING ROUGHLY. IT THEN SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO SHIFTER INPUTS. I WAS IN THE SECOND LANE FROM THE RIGHT DOING 10 OR 15 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO FORCE MY WAY INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND OFF TO THE SHOULDER. I PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN SPORT AND PADDLE SHIFTER MODE WITH NO RESPONSE FROM THE SHIFT SELECTOR. THINKING THIS IS A COMPUTER PROBLEM I REBOOTED BY SHUTTING CAR OFF AND RESTARTING. ALL FUNCTIONS RETURNED TO NORMAL. TOOK TO DEALER WHERE I GOT VERY GOOD SERVICE BUT IT TURNS OUT THERE WAS A MERCEDES BULLETIN REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. IT REQUIRED A SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT HAS APPEARENTLY FIXED THE PROBLEM. WHAT…
At low speeds when shifting into 2nd gear the car slips, rpm's raise and then it suddenly and aggressively jerks into 2nd gear. If the start and stop feature is enabled and you are in a situation where the feature is engaging and disengaging like traffic then after a few of the jerks into 2nd gear it seems the PCM will get discombobulated and display a P0732 error.
The 10-speed automatic transmission (10R80) shifts harshly and erratically, hangs in gear, and lost 2nd gear entirely, causing unpredictable acceleration and gear engagement in traffic. First reported to a Ford dealer on 6/8/2021 at 25,883 miles (dealer called it normal). Repairs: internal teardown at 32,920 miles (damaged clutch, input shaft, torque converter hub); valve body repair under TSB 24-2101 at 63,483 miles; CDF hub and friction plate failure diagnosed at 77,584 miles (TSB 25-2126 failure mode); loss of 2nd gear at 88,449 miles. Pre-repair scan 9/2026 shows P0732, P076F, P07F6 (incorrect gear ratio, gears 2, 7, 9). Transmission being rebuilt again 9/2026. The engine also suffered…
3 YR OLD CAR TRANSMISSION WENT OUT COMPLETELY WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I HAD TO DODGE SPEEDIG CARS TO ROLL OFF THE FREEWAY SINCE I HAD NO USE OF THE GAS PETAL OR SPEED. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. ERROR CODES P0732-GEAR 2 INCORRECT GEAR RATIO CAME BACK TO NEEDING A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION. HAD THEM FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION FOR $300 TO TRY AND SAVE IT TO NO AVAIL. THE SHIFTER CABLE IS ALREADY ON RECALL NOTICE 18S20/NHTSA RECALL 18V471 AND MY FORD DEALER CANT GET THE PART FOR MONTHS NOW BECAUSE ITS ON BACK ORDER. I BELIEVE THIS LED TO THE TOTAL DEMISE OF THE TRANSMISSION. A USED PART FOR $3000 IS NOT AN OPTION BECAUSE THE DEALERS CANT FIND ONE ANYWHERE. IM ASSUMING ITS DUE TO MANY PEOPLE…
P0732: questions drivers ask
What does code P0732 mean?
P0732 is a generic OBD-II powertrain code. Its standard definition is "Gear 2 Incorrect Ratio". The code tells you which system set the fault, not which part failed; the owner reports on this page show what it meant in practice for 7 car models.
Which cars get code P0732 most often?
In NHTSA owner complaints, P0732 is mentioned most for the Chrysler Pacifica (7), Ford F-150 (5), Ford Escape (2), across 7 models and model years 2013 to 2022. Popular models collect more reports because more of them are on the road.
Is there a recall for code P0732?
No NHTSA recall text names P0732 directly. 8 recalls on the cars that report this code concern the same component owners name most (Power Train); they may or may not relate to the code. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
What should I do if my car shows P0732?
Write down when the code appeared and what the car did (warning lights, loss of power, noises, speed, weather). Check your VIN for open recalls at nhtsa.gov/recalls, ask a dealer or independent workshop to read the stored freeze-frame data before anyone clears the code, and keep the repair order. If the car loses power in traffic, stop driving it. CarHooq does not diagnose: these are owner reports and official recall notices, not repair advice.
How this page was made
CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of P0732 (including sub-code forms such as P073200). The definition is the generic SAE J2012 wording; a carmaker may use the code slightly differently. Nothing here is a diagnosis. Data: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation (public domain), retrieved November 3, 2026. How CarHooq reports are made.
