I own a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate equipped with the 6.2L L87 V8 engine. The vehicle previously experienced an engine failure that resulted in the complete replacement of the 6.2L engine by an authorized GMC dealership. The replacement engine was installed at approximately 76,316 miles. After approximately 1,000 miles of driving with the replacement engine, at approximately 77,354 miles, the vehicle displayed a check-engine/service warning and experienced abnormal transmission shifting. I returned the vehicle to the GMC dealership for diagnosis. The dealer documented DTC P0747, identified as “Transmission Control Solenoid Valve 1 Stuck On,” and recommended replacement of the…

As I was driving on the Highway. My speed was approximately 65 MPH. The suburban slowed itself down and flashed on the driver screen "slow down/reduced acceleration". I was driving with my family in the car on the highway. The car forcing a slow down like that could have caused an accident that could have killed my 3 year old or my 9 year old. We drove the car home in fear after reading online that the rear tires could force stop on us. We immediately did an at home diagnostic on the vehicle and were given the following codes: P0700, P0747. We have taken the vehicle to the nearest Chevrolet Dealership and had it diagnosed. We were called today and told that the valve body needs replacement…

The vehicle drove normally earlier in the day with no major drivability concerns. Later, reverse gear suddenly stopped functioning and the engine would rev abnormally without the vehicle moving properly while in reverse. Shortly afterward, while driving, the vehicle displayed the warning message “Reduce Acceleration – Drive with Care” and began losing acceleration and propulsion. The vehicle would not accelerate normally and later could not exceed approximately 20-35 MPH. The condition created a significant safety concern due to sudden loss of acceleration and propulsion while operating in traffic. The engine RPM would increase abnormally while the vehicle failed to respond properly in drive…

I drive a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 3.0L Diesel with the 10-speed transmission. The transmission control software failed to monitor/detect valve body wear or trigger a 5th-gear 'limp mode' safety net, resulting in three separate instances of sudden rear-wheel lockup at speed. The dealer was unable to replicate the issue during a service visit from 6/10 - XXX. The issue was raised as the transmission was shifting increasingly badly leading up to this service visit. The first full lockup occurred a few days after receipt of the vehicle on XXX driving eastbound on [XXX]. Off the gas, coasting downhill. Once everybody started speeding up, I increased the throttle gently and the truck shook…

My 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 4WD currently at 67659 miles was taken in to the dealer because of excessive jerk when accelerating or trying to reverse, diagnostic scan failed for check engine and ABS trouble codes. The scan return code PO747 indicating transmission pressure control solenoid “A” was stuck on for a predetermined period of time. The recommended repair is replacement of automatic transmission, solenoid control valve body. I’m aware that GM has issued a TSB 25–NA-255 and special coverage N24245441–02 addressing this exact failure on the GM 10 speed and that GM previously issued a related recall N242454440 addressing this exact failure on the GM 10 speed transmissions, and that GM…

2022 Chevrolet Suburban, 3.0L Duramax diesel, 10-speed automatic, purchased March 2022, approx. 122,000 miles. In early August 2026 the transmission began shuddering at low speeds. Reported to the selling and servicing Chevrolet dealer on 08/11/2026 at 118,892 miles. No transmission diagnosis was performed; the dealer's written estimate recommended spark plugs on a diesel engine. The condition worsened. On 09/17/2026 the dealer verified the concern and documented a "very harsh shift which would continue until 5th gear" when accelerating, and found the transmission fluid "heavily contaminated with metal and clutch material." P0747: questions drivers ask

What does code P0747 mean?

P0747 is a generic OBD-II powertrain code. Its standard definition is "Pressure Control Solenoid 'A' Stuck On". The code tells you which system set the fault, not which part failed; the owner reports on this page show what it meant in practice for 7 car models.

Which cars get code P0747 most often?

In NHTSA owner complaints, P0747 is mentioned most for the Chevrolet Silverado (27), GMC Sierra (19), Chevrolet Suburban (6), across 7 models and model years 2020 to 2024. Popular models collect more reports because more of them are on the road.

Is there a recall for code P0747?

No NHTSA recall text names P0747 directly. 5 recalls on the cars that report this code concern the same component owners name most (Power Train); they may or may not relate to the code. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

What should I do if my car shows P0747?

Write down when the code appeared and what the car did (warning lights, loss of power, noises, speed, weather). Check your VIN for open recalls at nhtsa.gov/recalls, ask a dealer or independent workshop to read the stored freeze-frame data before anyone clears the code, and keep the repair order. If the car loses power in traffic, stop driving it. CarHooq does not diagnose: these are owner reports and official recall notices, not repair advice.

How this page was made

CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of P0747 (including sub-code forms such as P074700). The definition is the generic SAE J2012 wording; a carmaker may use the code slightly differently. Nothing here is a diagnosis. Data: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation (public domain), retrieved November 3, 2026. How CarHooq reports are made.
