2018 Ford F-150 5.0L with 10R80 10-speed transmission, approximately 86,000 miles. The transmission began exhibiting abnormal shifting, including missed shifts and loss of propulsion. On multiple occasions while traveling approximately 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power/propulsion. During these events, the gear indicator changed from 10th to 1st and engine RPM appeared to increase. I do not believe the transmission physically engaged 1st gear; the actual gear engaged is UNKNOWN. The unexpected loss of propulsion at highway speed created a safety concern because the vehicle would not respond normally to accelerator input while traveling with traffic. The transmission also malfunctioned…

The vehicle has experienced repeated critical transmission failures and currently has four active Federal Safety Recalls with no available remedy. The transmission has failed four separate times, requiring four transmission assemblies within approximately 68,795 miles. The latest failure produced DTC P07F7 (Gear 10 Incorrect Ratio) and was confirmed by the Ford dealer and an independent inspector as an internal transmission failure. Symptoms included harsh engagement, delayed shifting, hesitation, slipping, and repeated powertrain malfunction messages. The vehicle was out of service for 26 consecutive days during the most recent repair. A NHTSA VIN lookup shows four active unrepaired…

Own a 2019 Ford Ranger, which is experiencing severe transmission issues including harsh and delayed shifting. A diagnostic scan revealed code P07F7-00, which matches Ford's TSB 24-2046 / 25-2024, related to known defects in the 10R80 10-speed transmission. Despite this being a documented issue, authorized Ford dealerships have refused to properly diagnose the TSB entirely and claiming it was no longer valid. This unresolved defect affects the safety and reliability of my vehicle. I am filing a complaint to request that the NHTSA investigate this widespread problem and consider issuing a recall to address the transmission defect affecting many Ford Rangers (and other vehicles with this…

The truck has 55,000 miles on it. The truck shifted very harshly when slowing down creating a traction hazard. The harsh shifting cannot be mitigated by adjusting how it is driven. After a few days a wrench symbol appeared on the dash screen while driving on the interstate, I immediately drove the truck to the Ford dealership after the wrench symbol appeared. Code P07F7 was recovered. I was told that the torque converter is bad and the CDF hub is failing. I was told that the transmission will have to be replaced or rebuilt. The Ford dealerships own transmission specialist showed me how the faulty design is the cause for the break and showed me the new design Ford uses for the replacement…

Failed Component & Availability: Ford 10R80 10-speed transmission (Power Train). Available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: My family is put at extreme risk in two ways. 1) Sudden loss of motive power, slipping, and violent engagements at highway speeds create an imminent rear-end collision risk. 2) This exact vehicle is now under Safety Recall 26S48 (NHTSA 26V402) for unintended vehicle rollaway. Ford explicitly states a remedy is not available until Q2 2027, forcing us to drive an unfixable, inherently dangerous vehicle for another year. In my 2019 Ford Ranger, which has 75,570 miles, on [XXX], I was at a stop sign on [XXX] , at [XXX] , near Statesboro, GA, waiting for a break in traffic to safely cross. When a safe break occurred, I proceeded to cross, and at about the halfway point of crossing, the transmission bucked, and the truck began to slow to a halt. As a tractor trailer was bearing down on me broadside, the transmission jumped into gear, and I was able to proceed, and narrowly avoided a broadside collision. Afterward, the warning lamp indicated a powertrain malfunction (wrench) light. What should I do if my car shows P07F7?

Write down when the code appeared and what the car did (warning lights, loss of power, noises, speed, weather). Check your VIN for open recalls at nhtsa.gov/recalls, ask a dealer or independent workshop to read the stored freeze-frame data before anyone clears the code, and keep the repair order. If the car loses power in traffic, stop driving it. CarHooq does not diagnose: these are owner reports and official recall notices, not repair advice.

How this page was made

CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of P07F7. Manufacturer codes have no public standard definition, so CarHooq shows only what owners reported. Nothing here is a diagnosis.
