The HVBJB failed on my 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-e. I first noticed a dashboard warning regarding a powertrain malfunction when I tried to start the car about a half-hour after we returned home from an approximately 170-mile drive five days ago. The warning said it was a powertrain malfunction and to get service soon. The car started an hour later and I was able to drive it to the Ford Service center where I bought the new car only last June. There they diagnosed the problem with this language: "HV JUNCTION BOX - FOUND P0AA1:68 AND P0AA1:00 TO BE HARD SET AND THE TO BE IN LIMP MODE. NEED TO REPLACE HV JUNCTION BOX ( 414-03A PPT P4 ) AND RETEST ALL MODULES. WILL NEED MORE TIME AFTER REPAIR TO…

On 8/16/26, my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid would not start after being parked for several hours in an underground parking structure in downtown Detroit during a baseball game. There were no warnings before the failure. The vehicle was towed to Serra Lake Orion at a cost of about $700. The dealer found diagnostic trouble code P0AA1 (hybrid/EV battery positive contactor circuit). The high-voltage system is locked down and the vehicle cannot be started or driven. The vehicle has been at the dealer since August 18, 2026, and as of 10/1/26 has been out of service for about 6 weeks. The dealer has an open Chrysler STAR technical support case (102974656) seeking approval to replace the…

Car was parked in my home garage and would not start, displaying "Stop safely now." Vehicle appears to have code P0AA1 Hybrid battery positive contactor - circuit stuck closed. Many other Mach-E vechicles are exhibiting this defective part in the high voltage battery system, which appears to be the Battery Electrical Control Module (BECM). Ford appears to be aware of this issue, and, unconfirmed, has stopped production of the Mach-E to canibalize parts to fix vehicles that fail. However, some are less lucky than me and had their car stop dead while driving on the highway, and Ford should not be waiting for vehicles to stop and strand people before fixing this serious defect. Write down when the code appeared and what the car did (warning lights, loss of power, noises, speed, weather). Check your VIN for open recalls at nhtsa.gov/recalls, ask a dealer or independent workshop to read the stored freeze-frame data before anyone clears the code, and keep the repair order. If the car loses power in traffic, stop driving it. CarHooq does not diagnose: these are owner reports and official recall notices, not repair advice.

How this page was made

CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of P0AA1. Manufacturer codes have no public standard definition, so CarHooq shows only what owners reported. Nothing here is a diagnosis.
