P219a, p064d Total system shutdown was not recrank. Was in the middle of a four-way intersection when car died. Independent service diagnose the problem Have checked the Ford recall list and there are three recalls address to my vehicle Oil pressure light battery light and check engine light
The Check Engine light illuminated and diagnostic code P219A was recorded (Bank 1 Air/Fuel Ratio Imbalance), and the engine has a ticking noise. The dealership has indicated the issue likely involves the valvetrain/rocker arms/lifters and will require engine internal repair (valve cover removal, spark plug replacement, possible rocker arm replacement) estimated at ~$2,900-$4,500. The 3.6 L Pentastar engine has been the subject of numerous owner complaints of ticking noise, power loss, misfire, and premature valvetrain failure. I understand there have been related Jeep Technical Service Bulletins (such as 09-002-14 and 09-008-18) addressing these types of failures. A class action lawsuit…
JULY 14, 2018 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS GETTING HESITATION GOING UPHILL. I FIRST TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP WHO REPLACED O2 SENSOR AND ALL SPARK PLUGS AT THE COST OF 800.00, 5 MILES DOWN THE ROAD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BACK ON SAME CODE P219A. TOOK IT BACK SAID EVERYTHING TESTED FINE. SECOND SHOP REPLACED UPWARD AND DOWNWARD SENSORS 1100.00. 5 MILES LATER SAME CHECK ENGINE CODE. THIRD SHOP SAID THE COULDNT FIND ANYTHING TO PICK IT UP 200.00. I TOOK IT TO DEALER. AT THIS POINT BAD GAS MILEAGE AND HESITAION...THEY KEPT IT TWO MONTHS AND STATED THEY HAD CHRYSLER ENGINEERS IN THE FIELD HELPING THEM. FINALLY 8 WEEKS LATER, I WAS TOLD THE ONLY THIN THEY THINK IT COULD BE WAS WIRING HARNESS…
Exhaust bracket broke, created a hole in pipe, which then resulted in cracked catalytic converter. Dealership and GM denied repairs due to the hole being on the "wrong pipe" but the same bracket that is covered broke resulting in the consequential damage. Check engine light came on, loud exhaust noise. Threw codes P219A, P2097, P0171. Bulletin even outlines that broken bracket/hole can cause cracks in converter, still denied. This is a known issue with the welding on this pipe/bracket, why they didn't extend the coverage to BOTH pipes is beyond me.
I am submitting this complaint regarding a recurring turbocharger issue in my 2017 Ford Explorer Sport (VIN: [XXX] ). In April 2024, I was forced to replace the turbocharger system at a cost of approximately $2,500. Despite the repair, my vehicle continues to have serious performance issues. Most recently, the check engine light returned, and a diagnostic scan from O’Reilly Auto Parts showed error code P219A – Bank 1 Air/Fuel Ratio Imbalance. This code indicates that the engine is still not functioning correctly—pointing to a likely underlying or unresolved defect. During the initial failure, oil leaked extensively into the engine bay and burned off in thick white smoke while I was driving…
THIS IS A REOCCURRING ISSUE WITH THE DIRECT FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM (GDI). THE HIGH PRESSURE PUMP IS GROUND INTO THE TOP OF THE CAMSHAFT CAM AND CAUSING FUEL RAIL FAILURE, ENGINE CODES P0087 & P219A. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPAIRED THIS ONCE UNDER WARRANTY. FORD REFUSES TO REPAIR AGAIN, SINCE MY WARRANTY EXPIRED WHILE WE WERE IN STATE LOCKDOWN ORDER. THIS GDI DIRECT FUEL INJECTION VS. MULTI-PORT INJECTION WAS RUSHED TO MARKET TO MEET THE NEW FUEL ECONOMY MANDATES SET BY CONGRESS AND IT HAS FAILED ON THIS VEHICLE 3 TIMES NOW, CAUSING SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. FMC WONT REPAIR AGAIN EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW OF THIS SYSTEMIC ISSUE. I AM ATTACHING A COPY OF THE DIAGNOSTICS FROM FORD WITH THE…
The check engine light comes on. The code reads P219A. Which means there's an air to fuel ratio off. It sounds like it's gonna stall.
Engine running rough. I drive daily on the freeway and pull a trailer, it is not safe to drive on a busy freeway or any road ( I am a self-employed contractor who now has to rent a truck). Both I took to an independent service center and authorized Crysler Dealer. Check engine light came on November 30th. P219A - Bank 1 Air-Fuel Ratio Imbalance PERMANENT. It was starting on and off. The truck was purchased from Holz Dealership in 2019 and financed for $35,967.63. Nothing was disclosed about engine issues.
I have had several Ford Focuses and I’m not sure why I keep buying them. The transmission shudders or slips. Makes awful noises like grinding or something hitting the fan blade. I currently have 7 codes stored in the car but no check engine light. My garage thinks maybe it needs a new ABS control module. The display screen goes black all the time and doesn’t come back on. Ford is aware of these issues in the 2018 models and continues to do nothing. I’ve been a loyal Ford buyer for years and I’m never buying “American made” again. They cut corners and produce trash vehicles that the consumer has to pay out of pocket for repairs. Current codes are P219A and C. U0121, U0140, U0256, U0452 and…
An internal defect in the 2014-2020 Jeep Wranglers with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine affects its rocker arms, lifters, and related valvetrain components, including the engine control module (ECM) software that controls the precise timing and function of the lifters. Specifically, the rollers of a Pentastar engine’s rocker arms prematurely wear down, become loose, and then drop, which shifts the rocker arm out of alignment. The rocker arms then come into contact with the cam, scraping both components and creating metal debris. This Pentastar V6 engine defect creates an audible ticking sound that stems from metal particles and debris from the failed rocker arms and other components…

Which cars get code P219A most often?

What should I do if my car shows P219A?
Write down when the code appeared and what the car did (warning lights, loss of power, noises, speed, weather). Check your VIN for open recalls at nhtsa.gov/recalls, ask a dealer or independent workshop to read the stored freeze-frame data before anyone clears the code, and keep the repair order. If the car loses power in traffic, stop driving it. CarHooq does not diagnose: these are owner reports and official recall notices, not repair advice.
How this page was made
CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of P219A. Manufacturer codes have no public standard definition, so CarHooq shows only what owners reported. Nothing here is a diagnosis.
