I received codes p2888, p288a, p0c2c all within the current recall parameters however my vin is not listed in the recall currently but falls within the same guidelines for those model years, engine, and trim package. It is the parking/pawl codes. I cannot currently drive my vehicle and I am about to face very heavy charges with getting a repair for my vehicle. As of now the Ford service writer at Platinum Ford North in Pilot Point, Texas has told me it is unsafe to drive and repairs will need to be made and that the repairs are currently not within any safety recalls for my specific VIN.
My vehicle was just diagnosed with trouble code P2888 (Park Lock Actuator Circuit/Open). This prevents the vehicle from shifting safely into Park. SHIFT SYS FAILURE was the error displayed in the dash readout. This matches the exact model, year, and dangerous symptoms outlined in Ford Safety Recall 26S48. My local Ford dealership has recommended the exact repair specified by that recall—a full transmission valve body replacement. Despite having the identical component failure and safety risk as the recalled vehicles, I am being asked to pay out of pocket solely due to my VIN assembly date. Because this is a known, documented manufacturing flaw, I respectfully request that Ford provide…

How this page was made
CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of P2888. Manufacturer codes have no public standard definition, so CarHooq shows only what owners reported. Nothing here is a diagnosis.
