I own a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ Texas Edition with 51,000 miles, equipped with the factory multi-camera system and rear backup camera. The camera images are clear and all cameras function normally, but the forward/reverse guide/trajectory lines no longer appear. When the cameras are activated, a blue hourglass appears in the upper-left corner and the guide lines never load. This is a safety concern because the guide lines help the driver judge the vehicle's path and distance when backing up and maneuvering in tight areas. The loss of this feature reduces the functionality of the factory safety/parking camera system. I took the truck to an authorized GM dealer. They diagnosed a front…

Vehicle Diagnostic Summary – Trouble Codes Explained 1. P0562 – System Voltage Low The vehicle’s electrical system is running at low voltage. This could be due to a weak battery, a failing alternator, or poor electrical connections. It may cause various electronic issues and unexpected shutdowns if not fixed. 2. P1005 – Fuel Level Sensor Control Module: Too Many Resets The fuel level sensor module has been reset too many times, likely due to electrical glitches. This may cause the fuel gauge to be inaccurate or unstable. 3. P14C0 / P14CD – Fuel Pump Driver Control Module Signal Error There is a configuration signal error from the fuel pump control module. This could lead to fuel delivery…
I am reporting a safety-related defect involving the electric power steering system on my 2017 Ford Explorer. The vehicle displays a “Steering System Fault” warning, and when this occurs the power steering assist is reduced or disabled, creating a safety risk during low-speed driving, turning, and parking. When the ignition is on with the engine off, multiple communication fault codes appear, including U0100, U0131, U0140, and U0151. After the engine is started, these communication codes disappear, but the steering fault warning remains illuminated and no active fault codes are stored. This behavior indicates the steering system enters a fail-safe state during startup and does not recover…
REGARDING: 2015 FORD F150 WITH 20,000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT. -Made 1st report with NHTSA.gov as well as Ford.com back in June 2023 about the vehicle throwing codes for anti-lock brake system and communication loss of ECM/PCM. As well as, the system NOT ALLOWING the brand new battery to ever be fully charged. -Upon 1st reporting these issues, the vehicle was placed into the "Friendly Ford" service center in crosby, tx to be worked on and issues fixed. $1,376, later, we were contacted by the service center to pick the vehicle up, saying issues were now FIXED. (their prognosis: auxillary transmission pump replacement 6/19/2023) After picking vehicle up, all seemed to be running correctly. Until…

Our car broke down on 07/08/2021 and went into the shop on 07/12/2021. It was eventually determined the engine had to be replaced. The car was in the shop until 09/02/2021. The following day during a test drive I noticed some minor, unusual response, almost unnoticeable, from the brakes, but there were no warning lights or messages. I connected a code reader and received the following codes: U0422, U0151, and C0800. I think all of them are sent by the ECU and involve communication problems with the ABS and the restraint systems, but yet, no warnings. I took it back to the shop. They found a shorted or bad Body Control Module, probably caused during the engine swap. If I hadn’t found those…
I have read several things about EBCM and the control power circuit being above threshold and wondering if this is a recall for this model? I am getting 3 error codes C0800, B1325, & U0151 for this vehicle. (General Motors is recalling over 449,000 SUVs and pickups (2023–2024 Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Suburban/Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and select Silverado/Sierra 1500) due to a software fault in the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) . This issue prevents the brake warning light from illuminating if brake fluid drops, increasing crash risk.) It's showing the same issues as above.
The engine makes a very loud ticking and whirring sound, there are also quite a few electrical components that will not communicate with the PCM causing errors on the vehicle code such as a switch component failure U2002-96 Battery voltage circuit below and above threshold U3003-16 and U3003-17, electric park break enable - Deactivated B1111-53. U0151: questions drivers ask
What does code U0151 mean?
U0151 is a generic OBD-II network code. Its standard definition is "Lost Communication With Restraints Control Module". The code tells you which system set the fault, not which part failed; the owner reports on this page show what it meant in practice for 12 car models.
Which cars get code U0151 most often?
In NHTSA owner complaints, U0151 is mentioned most for the Chevrolet Silverado (3), Chevrolet Malibu (2), Chevrolet Trailblazer (2), across 12 models and model years 2012 to 2024. Popular models collect more reports because more of them are on the road.
Is there a recall for code U0151?
No NHTSA recall text names U0151 directly. 7 recalls on the cars that report this code concern the same component owners name most (Electrical System); they may or may not relate to the code. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
What should I do if my car shows U0151?
Write down when the code appeared and what the car did (warning lights, loss of power, noises, speed, weather). Check your VIN for open recalls at nhtsa.gov/recalls, ask a dealer or independent workshop to read the stored freeze-frame data before anyone clears the code, and keep the repair order. If the car loses power in traffic, stop driving it. CarHooq does not diagnose: these are owner reports and official recall notices, not repair advice.
How this page was made
CarHooq read the text of every owner complaint filed with NHTSA for 19 US and European brands (model years 2012 onwards) and picked out the diagnostic trouble codes owners wrote down. This page lists every mention of U0151. The definition is the generic SAE J2012 wording; a carmaker may use the code slightly differently. Nothing here is a diagnosis. Data: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation (public domain), retrieved November 3, 2026. How CarHooq reports are made.
